Technology Weeek

A Technology Week program from 2-8 December 2021 has been observed in JSSKVK Suttur, Mysuru district. Frist day of the programme a training programme has been conducted on livestock management to farmwomen. 30 farmwomen and SHGs were participated in the programme.


Women in Agriuclure Day

Women in Agriculture Day has been conducted on 4th December 2021 in collaboration with Esha Outreach, Mallaiahnagiri Farmers Producer Company and Institute of Agriculture Technolgists (IAT), Mysuru at SMS Convent Hall, Bettadapura Hobli, Periyapatana Taluk. Sri. Deeraj Guruji from Esha Foundation opined that farmwoman involve in FPOs and SHGs to get the government benefits and collaborative work with department, KVKs and other FPOs to upliftment of their livelihood.


Field day on Paddy, Black gram and cowpea

Field day conducted on paddy (var KMP 220 and MSN99), Blackgram (var LBG 791) and Cowpea (var KBC9) at Magudilu village, H.D. Kote taluk. Breeder from VC Farm, UAS, Mandya Dr. C.A. Deepak satisfed with the crop growth informed to the farmers about the seed treatment, INM and IPM practices at the right stage of the crop. HD. Kote Assistant Director of Agriculture Sri Rangaswamy and farmers of Magudilu farmers were attended the programme.


World soil day

World soil day has been obsered on 5th December 2021 at Magudilu, H.D. Kote taluk. District Agricutlure Training Centre head Dr. G.H. Yogesh, HD. Kote Assistant Director of Agriculture Sri Rangaswamy, IAT member Sri. K.R. Raveendra were presided over the function. 80 soil health cards were distributed to farmers during the occasion.


Azolla Field day

Field day on azolla has been conducted at Magudilu vilalge of H.D. Kote taluk. To cope up with the short of green fodder to livestock azolla production is the best alternate. Farmers are very much insterested to implement the azolla units. 24 farmers were participated in the programme.


Field day on turmeric

Turmeric field has been organized in JSS Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Suttur demo unit. Dr. G.M. Vinay, Scientist (Horticulture) addressed the farmers about the cultivation and IPM practices of tumeric crop. Smt. H.V. Divay, Senior Scientist and Head (Incharge), staff memebrs, 40 farmers and farmwomen were attended the programme.


Online programme on Natural farming

On 16th Dec 2021 ICAR JSS KVK Suttur an online live telecast program on Natural farming conference and training on domestic vegetable seed production was held at KVK campus. Before the event, Mr.Sadananda, a member of the Mysore District Panchayat, informed about Natural farming. Union Agriculture minister Shri Narendra Singh Tomargave speech on Pradhan Manthri Kisan Samman Yojana, Kisan Credit Card, Farmer Producers Organisations, and AtmaNirbhar Yojana and gave call to farmers to adoptnatural farming. In this program, 87 people have attended including College of Agriculture,VC Farm Mandy students, Shree KshetraDharnmasthala Rural Development project self help group women and staff, RaithSampark Kendra Staff of Biligere, TVS Staff, farmer/farm women from other villages and KVK staff.


Field day on paddy var KMP 225

JSSKVK has organized a field day on paddy var KMP 225 at Vatalu, T. Narasipura Taluk. Junior His Holiness Sri. Shivakumaraswamiji from Vatala Math inaugurated the programme and opined that farmres must cultivate the crops under the guidance of KVK scientists.


Millets Workshop and Farmers' Day celebration

Under National Food Security Mission- 2021, District level Nutri cereals (Millets) workshop, millets exhibition and Farmers Day were celebrated on 23 December 2021 at JSS College, Ooty road, Mysuru by Department of Agriculture, ICAR JSS Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Suttur, District KrushikaSamaja, Mysuru, Institute of Agriculture Technologist, Mysuru, DheenDayal Upadhyay Koushal Kendra, JSS college Ooty road, Mysuru. Dr.Bagadi Goutam, Honorable District Commissioner, Mysuru and Sri A.M. Yogish, Chief Executive Officer of Mysuru jilla panchayath inaugurated the programme and launching the logo of International Year of Millets -2023. Dr.Bagadi Goutam, DC, Mysuru opinioned that nowadays people are aware about benefits of millets, but suitable market is not there for millets, so there should be good market facility for millets. On the eve of Farmer’s Day, 10 progressive farmers were felicitated by DC and other guests. Three technical bulletins related to millets health benefits, sustainable agriculture practices in millets, processing and value addition of millets were released.

Dr.B.T.Rayudu, Principal Scientist ICAR ATARI Zone -11, Bengaluru spoke that people are attracted towards junk foods like pizza, burget and other foods. there is lack of millets availability, which are suitable to get better health so awareness about availability of millets and value addition should be given. Mr. KalmalliShivakumar, President, District KrushikaSamaja, Mysuru told that a greater number of farmers should cultivate millets, which require less water and other inputs. Dr.Mallikarjuna B. Hanji, Chief Technical Officer, ICAR ATARI Zone -11, Bengaluru said that India is the first in growing millets in the world and usage of millets is 40 per cent in the world and millets usage will increase in the future. Dr. M. Mahantheshappa, Joint Director of Agricutlure, Department of Agriculture, Mysuru District, during the presidential remarks told that millets can be grown in less fertile land with less expenditure also talked about schemes related to millets and other crops. Dr. B.S. Soumyalatha, Assistant Professor, VC Farm Mandya, Mr. Mill Nagaraju, Millet Entrepreneur, H D Kote, Mr. Honnur, Prakash, millet growing progressive farmer, Honnur and Mrs. Jamuna Urs. were participated as resource person and gave information about millets cultivation, processing, value addition, marketing, and health benefits.In the millet exhibition, 20 stalls were exhibited by Farmers and entrepreneurs.


INM Training programme on Banana and Vegetables

A training program on nutrient management in banana and vegetable crops was held at Hunduvalli village in Nanjangud taluk by the ICAR JSSKVK Suttur. The program was co-hosted by Dr. G.M. Vinay, a horticulturist informed the farmers on the comprehensive management of nutrients and Micronutrients. The event was attended by the staff of TVS Company, about 45 farmers from Handunuwahalli village attended the programme.


Field day on FLD: Foxtail millet DHFt 109-3

On 27th December 2021, ICAR JSS Krishi Vigyan Kendra conducted Field Day on FLD Foxtail millet 10 9-3 at Suttur. Mrs. Netravati Yattinamani, Scientist (Home Science) talked about nutritional benefits of Foxtail millet. Mrs. H.V. Divya, Scientist and Head (I/c) told that farmers should come forward and grow millets at least for home consumption. Mr. Shamaraj, Scientist (Agronomy) spoke about improved agronomic practices in foxtail millet and other millets. Mr. Nanjundanayak, Suttur shared his experience in growing of Foxtail millet. More than 30 farmers were participated in the programme.


RAWE programme at JSSKVK

RAWE programme has been conducted during 16 to 29 December 2021 with 3 batches covering 69 students for Agricultural college, VC Farm, Mandya. During the training programme they have worked in demonstration units, attending training programme and field days.


Scientific Livestock Management Programme

A three-day scientific dairy farming and vermicompost production training course was held at the ICAR JSS KVK in Suttur from 1 - 3 December 2011 for farmers and unemployed youth to create their own jobs. The resource persons in the training were Shri Shivannara of Mikkare, Malavalli Taluk, Mr. Sridleep, a progressive farmer from Gopalpura village, Dr. Raghavendra T.P., Senior Veterinary Surgeon of Nagarlee Veterinary Hospital. Vijet, delivered lecture as resoruce persons. 40 farmers participated in the training


SwachhthaPakhawad Activities

ICAR JSS KVK Suttur Mysuru has conducted various activities of swachtha program in KVK campus and villages underSwachhthaPakhawadprogram during16-31 December 2021, the swachhtha program initiated by taking swachhtha pledge by involving KVK staffs, RAWE students of V C Farm Mandya, farmers at KVK campus followed by cleaning in office, maintenance of office records, cleaned KVK campus and educated farmers visiting KVK about demo units of vermicomposting and composting units, demonstration of waste decomposer at KVK campus, conducted 4 training, 3 awareness programs and 2 swachhtha marching in villages to create awareness about swachthaamong farmers.


Field day on Field bean var HA 4

The field day on Field bean var. HA 4 has been observed at Arakere village of K.R. Nagar taluk on 10th January 2022. Smt. H.V. Divya, Scientist (Seed Technology) informed about the feature of field bean var. HA 4, importance of seed treatment and precautionary measurement taken at the time of seed production. 32 farmers and farmwomen were participated in the programme.


Desi cow products preparation training

On 11.01.2022, KVK has conducted preparation of Desi cow dung and urine products. In this training, Ms. Netravathi Yetinamani, a home scientist demonstrated preparation of Viboothi and phenyl from Desi cow dung and urine. 40 farmwomen from Badanavalu and Nerale, Nanjangud Taluk SHG were participated in the programme.


Scientific sheep and goat rearing training

A three-day training programme on scientific sheep and goat rearing training during 18-20 January 2022 has been conducted at KVK. 40 rural youth and farmers were participated in the programme and get benefitted. Sri. P. Somashekar, District President Mysuru and Chamarajangar Sugarcane growers union were presided over the inaugural function.


Cross learning of KVKs

KVK, Kholhapur-II scientists (7Nos.) visited to KVK Mysuru under cross learning of KVKs programme. Smt. H.V. Divya, Senior Scientist and Head (Incharge) explained the activities of the KVK. Later scientists visited the demo units of the KVK.


Safe use of pesticides training programme

A training programme on safe use of pesticides has been conducted at KVK campus. Smt. H.V. Divya, Scientist (Seed Technology) informed about the precautionary measures to be taken when spraying chemical drugs, stating that unsafe and unsafe chemical spray is causing many diseases such as respiratory problems, asthma, dizziness, cancer, allergies, eye problems and many more. 40 farmwomen from Sri. Darmastala SHG and 37 DAESI students were participated in the programme.


Training programme on Natural Farming

On 12 January 2022, rural youths were trained on natural farming .During the programme preparation and Jeevamrutha, Beejamrutha, Ganajeevamrutha and use of these solutions to control insects and diseases in the crops. About 32 farmers participated in the program and took advantage of the training.


Participatory rural appraisal (PRA) programme.

KVK scientists have conducted PRA programme for conducting KVK programmes during the year 2022-25 in Haratale of Nanjangud Taluk, Dananayakanapura of T. Narasipura Taluk, Chikkakanya of Mysuru taluk and Hulyala of Hunsuru Taluk. They have surveyed the crops grown, livestock management and functioning of SHGs. More than 60 farmers and farmwomen were actively participated in the programme.


International Ragi Conference

The University of Agricultural Sciences (US), Bengaluru has conducted International Ragi conference at VC Farm, Mandya. The 6 progressive farmers/ farmwomen from K.R. Nagar taluk were participated in the conference with the Smt. Netravati Yettinamani, Scientist (Home Science).


National Girls child day

National Girls child day was observed at KVK on 24th December 2022. Smt. H.V. Divya, Scientist (Seed Technology) spoke about the purpose of National Girls Day and plans for education of girls by the government. Mrs. Mamata A., an officer of the Mysore District Child Protection Unit spoke about changes in Kishori and the rights of girls and explained about the activities of the Child Protection Unit. Smt. Netravati Yettinamani, Scientist (Home Science) explained about the prevention of anemia. 50 students from JSS School, Suttur were participated in the programme.


Training Programme Praocessing and value addition in Banana

A training programme on processing and value addition in banana has been conducted on 29 January 2022 at KVK. During the programme Smt. Netravati Yettinamani, Scientist (Home Science) demonstrated Badam puri, Chakkuli, Parota, Vermicelli from Banana powder. Sri. H.M. Naveen, resoruce person from Atmanirbar Yojana benificiary expalained about the recepies prepared from the Banana powder. 30 SHG farmwomen were participated in the programme.


Felecitation of farmers

JSSKVK, Suttur have felecitated 9 progressive farmers and a farmwomen during the Suttur Jathra Mahotsava held on 30.01.2022 at Suttur Shreekeshtra. The felecitation programme carried out in the divine presence of His Holiness Jagaduguru Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji. The programme has been conducted in collaboration with Smt. Sundramma Veerabhdrappa Pratistana, Yalandur.
