Celebration of World Milk Day 2022ICAR JSS Krishi Vigyan Kendra celebrated 22nd World Milk Day on June 1st at Haratle Village, Nanjangud Taluk, and Mysuru District by conducting a training program on clean milk production and importance of consuming milk. During the training program Animal Scientist of the institution delivered lecture on clean milk production practices such as health management of cow hygiene of milker, cleaning of utensils, environment, feeding management and etc.,. Nutritional benefits of consuming milk everyday and ICMR dietary milk recommendations per day was also appraised for creating better awareness. More than 26 dairy farmers participated in celebration program. |
World Environment DayICAR JSS KVK Suttur celebrated World Environment Day on 05-06-2022 with the theme of ‘Only One Earth’ collaboration with Rotary club Mysuru, in this programme started with planting a fruit tree at KVK and then celebrated by distributing more than 500 fruit and forest trees to farmers freely by KVK to encourage the saving of surrounding environment. In this staff of the KVK and Rotary Mysuru along with more than 50 farmers participated and celebrated at KVK campus. |
Training on Demonstration of Biofortified Pearl millet VPMH -14 value additionICAR JSS Krishi Vigyan Kendra organised training on demonstration of Bio fortified Pearl millet VPMH-14 and value addition at Haratale, Nanjangud taluk on 1st June 2022. Mrs. Netravati Yattinamani, Scientist (Home Science) talked that millets plays important role in the management of diabetes mellitus, blood pressure and other diseases. Millets are rich in fibre and antioxidants. Pearl millet VPMH-14 is bio fortified hybrid, rich in iron and zinc, which are blood forming nutrients and also explained about value added products from Pearl millet. Mr. J.G. Rajanna, Programme Assistant (Soil Science) explained about the soil testing and nutrient management in the crop. 30 farmers were participated in the training. After the training Pearl millet VPMH-14 seeds were provided to the beneficiaries of the programme. |
Training on EDP on Banana value addition demonstrationOn 11th June 2022, ICAR JSS Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Suttur organised a training on Banana value addition under Entrepreneurship Development programme at cluster village Haratale, Nanjangud taluk. 30 SHG women were involved in the programme Mrs. Netravati Yattinamani, Scientist (Home Science) explained about the health benefits of Banana, nutrients present in the Banana. Also explained about the Bakahu and other value added products from Banana, packing and labelling of the products. During the programme, method demonstration was done on BakaHu production with the SHG women participation. |
Training on Kitchen garden and community gardenOn 2ndJune 2022, Training on Nutri garden and Community garden was organized by ICAR JSS Krishi Vigyan Kendra and Pratham poshan Mysuru at Muttatti, T Narasipura taluk. 48 women were participated in the programme. Mrs. Netravati Yattinamani, Scientist (Home Science) explained about the importance of vegetables and fruits. She also explained about the usage of green leafy vegetables and other vegetables in daily diet. Mr. Manjunath Angadi, Senior Scientist explained about KVK activities and importance of nutri garden. Mr. Ashwani Rajayya and Mrs. Shashi Ranjan, founder of Pratham Poshan and Mrs. Ratna Rajayya and Mr. C. R. Hanumantha rao, Project officers of Pratham Poshan were participated in the programme, after the training, vegetable seedling and plants were distributed to the participants. |
Mobile Soil Testing LaboratoryICAR JSS Krishi Vigyan Kendra has organized Mobile Soil Testing campus with help of spic testing company Chennai. KVK has organized camp on 5 taluks of Mysuru District (K R Nagar, Hunsur, Nanjangud, Mysuru and T Narasipura), covered 7 villages with 350 soil samples collected and tested for pH, EC and Major nutrients (NPK) with recommendation. Soil sample is analyzed for 350 farmer soil samples in seven villages and also distributed soil health card to farmers in their villages. Soil health card report importance and soil health card based recommendations has been explained by Shri Rajanna PA (Soil Science). |
Training on EDP on Tamarind value additionOn 17th June 2022, ICAR JSS Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Suttur organised a training on Tamarind value addition under Entrepreneurship Development programme at cluster village Hulyalu, Hunsurtaluk. 30 women were participated in the programme. Mrs. NetravatiYattinamani, Scientist (Home Science) explained about the importance of tamarind and usage in daily diet. Also explained about the Tamarind value added products, packing and labelling of the products. During the programme, demonstrated the Tamarind lollypop and Tamrindchigali. |
Training on Nutri garden establishment for Nutritional security of farm familiesOn 22nd June 2022, ICAR JSS KVK Suttur organized training programme on nutri garden establishment for nutritional security of the rural households under Nutri garden programme at Chikkakanya village of Mysuru taluk. 30 farmers/farmwomen were participated in the programme. Mrs. NetravatiYattinamani, Scientist (Home Science) explained that nutri garden establishment helps to consume fresh vegetables and helps to save the money to buy vegetables. She also explained about the details of vegetables which can be grown in Nutri garden. After the training, provided the seeds and planting materials to beneficiaries of the programme. |
Training programme on Fodder and Beans at Hulyalu, Hunsur TalukThe fodder variety CoFS-31 and yard long beans variety Arka Mangala training programme has been conducted at Hulyalu village of Hunsur taluk. During the programme Dr. U.M. Rakshithraj, Scientist (Animal Science) explained about the high milk yielding different fodder crop varieties for and its significance. Dr. G.M. Vinay explained about integrated crop and pest management of yard long bean IIHR variety Arka Mangala. The seeds were distributed to the farmers during the training programme. |
Training promme on scope for pulse seed productionA training program was organized on the opportunities and benefits of pulses seed production conducted by JSSKVK, Mysuru. In training Mrs. HV Divya, Senior Scientist and Head said that farmers can grow legumes in the production of pulses, which is about 2% higher than the market price. The new varieties are yellow mosaic resistant varieties viz black gram LBG1 and cowpea KBC-1, are being offered to farmers with better yields and better prices. KVK scientists will visit the farmers' fields twice and guided them on good farming practices and harvesting. A good seed would be purchased by KVK has been instrumental in raising the social and economic status of farmers. So more farmers were prompted to participate in the seed hub project. Mr. Shamraj, agronomist of KVK, gave information about improved farming practices of black gram and horse gram crops such as seed treatment, balanced fertilizer management, disease and pest management and farming practices to be followed for seed production of new varieties. Kum. Shilpa showed method demo in seed treatment and germination test for the farmers. |
The Registrar, UAS Bengaluru visited to KVKDr. Basavegowda, Registrar, UAS, Bengaluru has been visited to our KVK. During his visit he discussed about the KVK activities and visited the demo units, agri clinic, seed production unit, Goshale and Integrated Horticulture Farming System. He expressed his happiness about the agri clinc and seed production activities carried out by the KVK. |
DAESI Training ProgrammeSmt. H.V.Divya, Senior Scientist and Head (I/C), ICAR JSS KVK, Sutturu explained about the KVK activities, facilities available at KVK and supports available for the DAESI students of Nagenahalli Mysuru. In her guest lecture, she stressed the Agriclinic work, especially farmer counseling and prescription based suggestion based on IPDM practices. She explained about the Importance of seed treatment, germination tests and safe storage techniques to the trainees. In practical class, Method demo on seed treatment with carbendizim was done. Germination test of Paddy was done by three methods ie., between paper, top of the paper and sand method was done. 20 DAESI trainees took the benefit of the training. |
Training on INM, IPDM and Method demo on var KMP 220ICAR JSS Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Sutturu, conducted 1 days training programme on 15th July 2022 under Azadi ka Amrith Mahotsav on “INM, IPDM and Method demo on paddy seed treatment in new paddy variety KMP 220” at Danayakanapura, T Narasipura taluk. In this programme Smt. H.V.Divya, Senior Scientist and Head (I/C), ICAR JSS KVK, Sutturu explained about the importance of seed treatment, INM and IPM practices such as use of biofertilizers, FYM, micronutrients, balanced use of fertilizers, alternate new varieties for higher yield. She also informed the farmers about the newly released red rice variety KMP 220, which is good in both grain and fodder yield. Which is having the same market value as that of Paddy variety Jyothi. Method demo on seed treatment with carbendizim 2g/Kg seed was done with the farmers. Sri. Shamaraj, Scietist (Agronomy) ICAR JSS KVK, Sutturu explained about the drum seeder, machine transplanting, weed management, Nutrient management etc., 34 farmers participated and took the advantage of the training. Progressive farmer Chinbuddi, Mahadevappa, Basavanna were present in the training. |
ICAR Foundation Day at ICAR JSSKVK, Suttur94th ICAR Foundation has been observed at ICAR JSS Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Suttur on 16th July 2022. KVK arranged live telecast programme of Sri. Narendra Singh Thomarji, Ministry of Agriculture, GoI and Dr. Thrilochan Mahapathra, Director, ICAR held at New Delhi. During this programme, Smt. H.V. Divya, Senior Scientist and Head (I/c) delivered a lecture on seed treatment, nutrient management, mechanization of paddy and nono-fertilizer usage in paddy. Sri. Shamaraj, Scientist (Agronomy) delivered lecture on renewable energy, energy sources and efficient usage of electricity in farming. 54 farmers and farmwomen were witnessed the programme. |
Desi Seeds training programmeSeed production, protection and conservation training programme has been organized incollaboration with Swami Vivekananda Youth Movement, Saragur for scheduled tribes of AG halli, Hunsekuppe, H.D. Kote taluk on 21.07.2022. Sri. H.V. Kalappa, resource person delivered a lecture on seed production, protection and conservation of various varieties of vegetable crops viz., Bhendi, Tomato, turmeric, carrot, onion, chilly and leafy vegetables. 37 farmers and farmwomen were attended the programme. |
State Bank of India march towards farmersState Bank of India organized a programme on “SBI Bank march towards Farmers”. In this programme bank explained about the various loan facilities offered to the farmers. During this event Smt. H.V. Divya, Senior Scientist and Head (I/c) attended as resource person and explained about various schemes implemented by Govt. of India for farmers , such as PMFME, startup for agri related enterprises, ASCI skill training programs etc., More than 700 farmers and farmwomen were participated in the programme. |
Fodder programmeOn 30th July 2022 Training programme was conducted by JSS KVK on new perennial hybrid Napier varieties in Danayakanapura village of T. Narasipura taluk. In the training, KVK Animal Scientist Dr. Rakshitraj U. M. gave information about various fodder varities viz., BNH 10, PBN342, Co5 on crop management and their importance.
