Training programme on Dolichus Bean

Off campus training programme on Doubling the Farmers Income by introducing new Varieties of Dolichus Bean at Hulyalu village Hunsuru Taluk on 02-08-2022. In that training programme Horticulture Scientist Dr Vinay G M explains the scientific cultivation of Dolichus bean, use of AMC in increasing the soil health management of soil , use of Vegetable special in improvising the yield along with quality in the Dolichus bean and gave information about the New IIHR Dolichus bean Varieties. Finally distributed the Arka Sambram variety seeds along with Vegetable special to 10 beneficiaries of the village. In this training programme 30 numbers of farmers of the villagers participated and got benefitted.


Augmenting Production Performance in High Yielding Dairy Farmers

Training program on "Nutrition Supplementation for “Augmenting Production Performance in High Yielding Dairy Farmers" at Bettadatunga, Bettadapura, Periyapatna taluk. The President and Dairy Secretary, Milk Producers Cooperative Society of Bettadatunga had graced the occasion. High yielding dairy cows suffer from negative energy balance, which eventually leads to increased service period anoestrous condition , repeat breeding and lower milk fat/SNF. Hence, to mitigate those conditions and increase income of the dairy farmers critical inputs such as Area Specific Mineral Mixture and Bypass fat distributed to 10 farmers.


Celebration of Independance day

76th Independance day has been observed at ICAR JSS Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Suttur. Progressive farmer Sr. Gurulingegowda hoist the flag. Mr. Gowda opined that it has been 75 years since the independence of the country and the country is making achievements in all fields at the global level. He said that the country has achieved considerable progress in the field of agriculture. He called upon the farmers to adopt modern agricultural practices and move towards becoming financially self-sufficient. The staff of KVK were participated in the event.


New verities of the Chilli in increasing the income of the farmers

In that training programme Horticulture Scientist Dr Vinay G M explains the scientific cultivation of Chilli, use of AMC in increasing the soil health management of soil , use of Vegetable special in improvising the yield along with quality in the Chilli and gave information about the New IIHR Chilli Varieties. Soil scientist Rajanna explains the soil health management and Integrated nutrient management in Chilli to the farmers. Finally distributed the Arka Haritha variety seeds along with Vegetable special to 10 beneficiaries of the village. In this training programme Home science Scientist Netravathi Yattinamani and 30 numbers of farmers of the villagers participated and got benefitted.


New varieties of Tomato in increasing the income of the farmers

Off campus training programme on new varieties of Tomato in increasing the income of the farmers at Harathale village Nanjungud Taluk on 16-08-2022. In that training programme Horticulture Scientist Dr Vinay G M explains the scientific cultivation of Tomato, use of AMC in increasing the soil health management of soil, use of Vegetable special in improvising the yield along with quality in the Tomato and gave information about the New Tomato Varieties and soil scientist Rajanna J G explains the nutrient management and fertigation techonologies in Tomato. Finally distributed the Arka abhed variety seedlings along with Vegetable special to 10 beneficiaries of the village. In this training programme 30 farmers of the villagers participated and got benefitted.


In service training to Anganawadi workers

On 17th August 2022, ICAR JSS KVK, Suttur organizing Inservice training to Anganawadi workers of Nanjangud taluk regarding “Balanced diet for all age groups and development of weaning foods for infants”at ICAR JSS Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Suttur. Mrs. Divya H.V., Senior Scientist and Head (I/c), ICAR JSS KVK Sutturinaugurated the progrmame and explained about KVK activities and demonstration units. Mrs Netravathi Yattinamani, Scientist (Home Science), ICAR JSS KVK Suttur spoke on the importance of balanced diet for all the age groups, importance and development of weaning foods for infants. After the programme Anganawadi workers visited KVK demonstration units.


Parthenium eradication week celebration 16th -22nd August 2022

ICAR JSS Krishi Vigyan Kendra Suttur Mysuru has celebrated Parthenium eradication week 16th -22nd August 2022 at KVK campus involving staff, farmers, RAWE students, and Anganawadi workers. KVK scientist Shri Shamaraj has briefed to farmers about health hazardous of parthenium to humans and animals when come in contact with parthenium weed and also explained about effective management of parthenium weed including composting of parthenium weed before it seeding. All KVK staff, farmers, RAWE students and Anganawadi workers has participated in parthenium uprooting campaign at KVK campus.


Online training programme on Natural Farming

ICAR JSS KVK Sutturu, Mysuru organised Natural farming training programme in online mode on 23-08-2022. In this programme Horticulture scientist Dr Vinay G M give the introduction about the different types of the farmings and the importance of natural farming in these days to help in the increase the soil health and to maintain the environment safe, then the Resource person of the programme Chandrashekar Naranapura, Krishi nivasa, Mugthihalli, Chikkamagaluru explains the details in Natural farming i.e. History of farming and natural farming, principals of Natural farming (Beejamrutha, Jeevamrutha, Mulching and Waphasa) and neatly explains the preparation procedures of Beejamrutha, Jeevamrutha and other materials of natural farming, and he share his experience in natural farming from past 15 years. Finally Dr Vinay G M and Chandrashekar both clear the doubt of the participants. A total of 55 farmers from different district participated and appreciate the programme.


Best entrepreneur award from NRCB

ICAR JSS KVK Suttur entrepreneur Mr. Naveen kumar H.M., from Ratnapuri village of Mysuru district received Best Entreprenur award from National Research Centre for Banana (NRCB) Tiruchirapalli, Tamil Nadu on 20th August 2022, for his outstanding achievements made in the value addition of Banana. Under PMFME scheme,Mr. Naveen is second beneficiary to the countryand established Banana value added products processing unit at Ratnapuri. He is practicing organic farming and created fruit forest with 40 different fruits, banana being the major crop and grown 5 different varieties. Mr. Naveen is recipient of Vijaya karnataka Superstar raitha award now working as resource person for ODOP Banana to spread awareness and supporting banana value added products.


Rural awareness work experience programme

From 22nd August to 3rd September 2022, students from college of Horticulture, Mudigere and from 26th August to 24th October 2022, students from Noida International University, Noida have Rural awareness work experience programme at ICAR JSS KVK Suttur. During the programme, the students will have practical knowledge about the agriculture and allied activities, agri clinic, KVK demo units, interaction with farmers.


Skill development in Cacoon crafting training

ICAR JSS KVK Suttur, Mysuru in association with ICAR KVK Chamarajanagar, Rotary Mysuru Brindavan and Dhan foundation organized two day’s skill development in cacoon crafting training on 5th and 6th September 2022 at KVK Suttur. 23 women from KVK Mysuru and 2 women from KVK Chamarajanagar participated in the training. Prof. M.Vijayendra, Professor (Rtd.), College of Sericulture, Chintamaniand assistant Mrs. Rajashri were the resource person and demonstrated the cacoon crafting. They demonstrated the flower, garland, boqueand other decorative items from cacoon and also demonstrated the making of colours and colouring of the cacoons. Prof. M. Vijayendra explained about preparation of cacoonsbefore making of decorative items. Mr. Chandrashekar Kallimani informed the trainees about subsidy and other facilities available at Sericulture department for cacooncrafting.Mrs. Divya H.V., Senior Scientist and Head (I/C), ICAR JSS KVK Sutturspoke that KVK will provide space for the production of decorative items from cacoons for trainees and KVK will buy the flowers, garland and other items from them. Mrs. NetravatiYattinamani, Scientist (Home Science) gave introductory remarks about the programme. Mrs. Shrinidi, Secretary, Rotary Mysuru Brindavanencourage the trainees to start the cacoon crafting after training. Staffs of ICAR JSS KVK and RAWE students of Noida University, UP were participated in the programme. Certificates were distributed to the trainees.


Poshan Abhiyan at JSS School Suttur

On the eve of PoshanMaah celebration, Poshanabhiyan programme was organised on 15th September 2022at JSS school Suttur. Mrs. NetravatiYattinamani, Scientist (Home Science), ICAR JSS KVK Suttur participated as resource person and gave lecture on balanced diet, food groups, micro and macro nutrients and their role in improving health. Importance of millets and their usage in daily diet, nutri garden importance, vegetables grown in nutri garden etc. 50 high school students and 2 teachers were participated in the programme.


Capacity Development Program to BAIF trainees Hunsur

ICAR JSS Krishi Vigyan Kendra Suttur Mysuru has conducted Capacity Development Program to BAIF trainees Hunsur on “Watershed management and development for sustainable agriculture in rainfed areas” for two days in 2 batches at KVK campus. KVK Agronomy scientist Shri Shamaraj briefed about concept of watershed, importance of soil and water conservation in watershed areas under rainfed and community watershed development programs on suitable crops and cropping system, trees, fodder crops and animal component for sustainable agriculture and also facilitated field visit of BAIF trainees to soil and water conservation structures like trench cum bunds and percolation pond in KVK campus.


Celebration of Coconut Day

ICAR JSS Krshi Vigyan Kendra,Suttur, Mysore district in collaboration of Scientific Solutions,Bengaluru and IAT Mysuru celebrated World Coconut Day on 2ndSeptember 2022. During this programme huge discussion has been carried out about the seed selection, cultivation and Integrated Pest & Disease Management (IPDM) and financial facilities available in the bank for implementation of coconut garden. The Horticulturists, Agriculturists and Bankers were in the discussion penal to clear the doubts of famers who have gathered during the programme. 60 farmers and farm women were actively interacted with the experts.


Sandal Wood cultivation programme

ICAR JSS Krishi Vigyan Kendra Suttur, Mysore district organized training programme on Sandalwood cultivation and Sandalwood based agriculture on 7thSeptember 2022 in collaboration with Institute Wood Science and Technology, Bengaluru. Dr Divakar, IWST, Bengaluru delivered lecture on sandalwood cultivation practices and Rajesh, RFO, T.Narasipura gave information about the schemes available at Forest department on sandal wood cultivation. 100 farmers were attended the programme.


Seed Hub Project Advisory Committee Meeting

The Project Advisory Committee (PAC) on Pulses Seed Hub programme has been organized on 08.09.2022 at ICAR JSS Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Suttur, Mysuru. Smt. H.V. Divya in-charge of pulses seed hub project has presented the progress report. The Executive Secretary, Directors (Administration) and Horticutlure of JSS Mahavidyapeetha, Mysuru, line departments officials, officials of VC Farm, UAS, Mandya and progressive farmers were attend the meeting.


Training programme on Butter Furit.

An online training programme has been organized on butter fruit. Dr. G.M. Vinay, Scientsit (Horticulture), informed to farmers about the butter fruit that, it is getting more limelight these days. It is a high priced fruit, but recently the whole world has fallen behind butter. In research studies, farmers show enthusiasm and these fruits are growing further.He suggeseted to farmers grow more butter furit trees for better fiancialbenefits. Dr.Muralidhar B.M, a fruit scientist from Indian Central Research CenterChettali, was the resource person for the training. He explained in detail about butter fruit, he informed that butter fruit came to our country around 1910 AD from Sri Lanka, this fruit was first brought to Lal Bagh garden during the British rule and then started to be cultivated in gardens in houses like during their rule. This fruit was first brought to Lal Bagh garden during the British rule and then they started to grow it in the gardens as it was during their rule, then about the varieties of butter fruit, about the plant, soil, climate, water, nervous system, nutrients.


Improved Cultivation practices in Banana and Fertigation technologies

ICAR JSS KrushiVigyanan Kendra Sutturuwuth the collaboration of ISHA Nanjundeshwara Farmer Producer Organization, Nanjungud organized training programme on “Improved Cultivation practices in Banana and Fertigation technologies in Horticultural crops” on 30th September at APMC yard Nanjungud. In that programme Dr Vinay G M Horticulture scientist delivered lecture on improved cultivation practices of Banana i.e. selection new varieties, selection of suitable suckers, sucker treatments, high density planting, intercropping in banana, Integrated nutrient, pest and disease management, use of Banana special, Fertigation technologies in banana, vegetables, papaya and Turmeric. FPO directors, ISHA members and total of 250 farmers participated and got benefitted from the programme.


KVK Scientist bags award

Univerisy of Agricultural Science, Dharwad awarded Dr.ChannaveeraKanaviBest Agriculture LiteraturePrize to Smt. H.V. Divya, Senior Scientist and Head (Incharge) for her literature published at AdikePathrike titled “Desi BeejadaBeleyallenemmdi”. ShereceivedRs 10,000/- cash prize and a momento during Dharwad Krishimela 2022 held atUniversity of Agricutlural Sciences.


Campaign on Poshan Abhiyan and Tree plantation

On the occasion of PoshanMaah celebration, ICAR JSS Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Suttur, inassociation with IFFCO Mysuru and Institute of Agriculture Technologist (IAT) celebratedcampaign on Poshan Abhiyan and Tree planation on 17 th September 2022 at ICAR JSSKrishi Vigyan Kendra, Suttur. Mrs. Divya H.V., Senior Scientist and Head (I/c), ICAR JSSKrishi Vigyan Kendra, gave presidential remarks about the programme and spoke aboutimportance of tree plantation and nutri garden importance. Mr. Manoj, Field Officer IFFCOMysuru explained about usage of nano urea in crops. Mrs. NetravatiYattinamani, Scientist(Home Science) gave lecture on importance of nutri garden, nutrients present in the fruitsand vegetables, health benefits of fruits and vegetables, balanced diet. Dr.Mahantheshappa M., President, IAT, Mysuru chapter,Dr. Nikith, Veterinary Doctor, Mrs.RajammaMadayya, President, Grama Panchayath, Biligere were the chief guests of theprogramme.More than 100 farmers, farm women and students and staffs ofGumahantheshwara school and the staffs of ICAR JSS Krishi Vigyan Kendra100 vegetable seed kit were distributed to the farmers and school studentsHonourable Union Agriculture minister Shri Narendra Singh Tomar addressed through onlinemode about the Poshanabhiyan celebration across KVKs of India. Honourable Agricultureminister’s speech was translated to local language kannada by Dr.Rakshith Raj U.M.,Scientist (Animal Science), ICAR JSS Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Suttur.
