Animal Vaccination CampaignPrevention of Violence against women-Pakhwada organized by JSS Academy of Higher Education and Research at Mysuru on 07.12.2022. In this event Smt. H.V. Divya, Senior Scientist and Head (I/c) and Dr. G.M. Vinay, Scientist (Horticulture) delivered a lecture on Waste management, Pest and disease management in Kitchen garden and Terrace garden.More than 50 participants were witnessed the programme. |
Participation in Women PakhwadaIn collaboration with Department of AHVS, Mysuru conducted vaccination campaign for Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD) and Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) conducted on 20.12.2022. For about 1568 cattle which falls under Veterinary Hospitals, Suttur and Nagrale, Nanjangud Taluk vaccination against LSD was carried out using Goat Pox Vaccine in a span of 10 days. Door to door FMD vaccination and ear tagging was done for about 400 cattle. During the vaccination program awareness on LSD disease was also created among the farmers. Further, the information on tick management, deworming medicines and nutrition management of cow was disseminated. |
Field – Paddy var KMP 220The field day of KMP 220 was held on 15.12.2022 at Dananayakanapura, T. Narasipura Taluk, Mysuru district in collaboration with Dept. of Agriculture and ATAMA, Mysuru. The farmers of this region are mostly growing paddy variety Jyothi. This variety is prone to disease and gives low yield. The University of Agricultural Sciences (UAS), Bengaluru released a new variety KMP 220. Farmers opined that this variety will give more grass and yield than the variety Jyoti with less disease, which will reduce the cost to the farmers and get a better profit. Smt. H.V. Divya advised to famers to select seedlings from good plants and use the seed for the next season. More than 40 farmers and farm women participated in the event. |
Celebration of Farmers DayCommand Area Development Authority (CADA), Mysore, Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services, Mysore and Mangalore Chemicals and Fertilizers, Hasan under the joint auspices of ICAR JSS Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Suttur celebrated Farmer's Day on 23.12.2022. Mrs. H.T.Chandrakala, Joint Director of CADA, Mysore, who participated in the function as the chief guest. Chandrakala said that the farmers should not rely on a single crop but adopt integrated agriculture to become economically empowered. Mysore Deputy Director of Animal Husbandary and Veterinary Services Department Dr. B.N. Shadaksharamurthy said that animal husbandry is an integral part of farmers. Farmers cannot be imagined without cattle. Farmers were therefore called upon to take special interest in animal husbandry along with agriculture. He said that if the cattle rearing area is kept clean, diseases can be prevented. He informed that more than 340 cows were treated for barren cows and health check-ups for other diseases were given free of charge in Tumnerale village of Nanjangudu taluk. Mr. Omkaramoorthy, Chief Sales Officer of Mangalore Chemicals and Fertilizers, Hassan said that a 45 kg bag of chemical fertilizer costs Rs 2340/-. Union government is giving Rs 2060/- as subsidy and farmers are getting Rs 280/-. He told the farmers that it is advisable to give fertilizer based on the soil test to maintain the health of the soil. Mrs. H.V. Divya said that Farmers' Day is being celebrated on December 23 in the memory of Chaudhary Charan Singh, the fifth Prime Minister of India. 20% GDP contribution of the country's is from agriculture. She said that the farmers should adopt the new technologies invented in the agriculture sector and make more profit. She called on farmers to use more Nano urea to reduce fertilizer Dependency. Mr. Narayana Rao Shinde of Hulyalu village of Hunsur taluk, Mr. Chinnabuddhi of Danayakanapura of T. Naraseepur taluk, and Mr. Sundaraswamy of Bannahallihundi were honored at the same time. |
ICAR NBAGR awardThe ICAR JSS Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Suttur, Mysuru organized the press meet for the ICAR National Bureau of Animal Genetic Resources(NBAGR), New Delhi has awarded the 2022 'Breed Conservation Award' to Sri. Srinivasa Acharya, the owner of the Banduru sheep breed of Yashodhavan Goat Farm, Nanjangudu Taluk, Yadahalli Village, Mysore District. More than 400 purebred Banduru sheep have been developed and sold to interested farmers around. |

Suttur Jathra mahotsava will be held during 18-23 January 2023 at Suttur. Later he delivered a lecture/ interaction progamme on opportunities in the field of agriculture for the school students. Swachhata PakhwadaSwachhata Pakhwada campaign has been organized in ICAR JSS Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Suttur during 15-31 December 2022. By taking oath from the staff members, celebration of Farmers day, cleaning of administrative/farmers, staff quarters buildings, store room and demo units. Creating awareness programme for farmers about generation of wealth from waste. More than 250 farmers/Farmwomen were participated. |
Training programme for CADA FarmersA 3 day training programme for CADA farmres has been organized in collaboration with CADA, Mysuru during 23-25 December 2022. During the programme, INM, ICM, IPDM, Kitchne garden, soil management, management of disease in livestock and productio of vermicompost techniques were taught. About 33 farmers were benifitted the programme. 30 farmers were participated in the programme |
Horticulture NurseryTraining programme has been organized on integrated crop management in Horticulture crops at Kasuvinahalli village Nanjunagud Taluk in collaboration with by ITC, Myrada on 05.01.2023. During the programme Dr. G.M. Vinay, Scientist (Horticulture) explained about ICM practices on horticulture crops and maintenance of nursery. Film show has been organized to show various nursery techniques viz., Seedbed and nursery beds, Collection and planting of mother plants, Storage of dried, cleaned soil and compost manure, Production of flower seeds, Storage of propagated plants in nursery beds, Manuring, Watering, Drainage and Packing and handling etc., 35 Farmers and Farmwomen were particpated in the programme. |
Climate smart agriculture practicesTraining programme on climate smart agriculture practices in paddy has been organized on 10.01.2023 at Hulimavu, Nanjangud taluk in collaboration with MYKAPS, Mysuru. During the programme Sri. Shamaraj, Scientist (Agronomy) explained about 7 steps for climate smart agriculture practices for paddy growing. That is soil preparation before rising crop by plouging and leveling. Selection of seed played a vital role for good crop. Manuring stage at different stages of crop, water management, weeding and harvesting techniques were taught. 25 farmers were particpated in the programme. |
Krishimela 2023Krishimela has been organized on the occasion of Adi Jagadguru Sri Shivratreeshwara Shivyogigalavara Jatra Mahotsava Technology week has bee organized from 18 to 23 January 2023 in the divine presence of His Holiness Sri Shivarathri Desikendra Mahaswamy and in the presence of all pontiffs , Sri B.C. Patil, Minister of Agriculture, and Mr. Jagdeesh Shettar, Mr. B.Y. Vijayendra, Dr. Yatindra Siddaramaiah, Niranjan Kumar, Dr. V. Lokesh Pujari was inaugurated in the presence of other dignitaries. |
Krishimela - Live cropsKrishimela (Technology Week) is popularly known as “Krishi habba”. Demonstrations of traditional and modern farming practices were arranged to introduce farmers to important technologies in the field of agriculture. About 150 crops viz., cereals, pulses, oilseeds, commercial crops and fodder crops, hydroponics under soilless cultivation, horticulture crops including aero-phonics method and exotic vegetables, drip irrigation and sprinkler irrigation systems were demonstrated. |
Krishimela- IFS ModelKeeping in mind the sustainable livelihood of small and micro farmers IFS model called Krishi Brahamanda developed in one acre area. Whereas agriculture, horticulture, fodder, medicinal plants, various vegetable crops and animal husbandry based were demonstrated. . Through the demonstration, it has been shown that farmers can live a comfortable life financially. |
Krishimela - Drone DemosDrones can be used as a new technology to save farmers' labor, time, adequate chemicals spraying, sowing, crop survey and maintaining the health of the crop. Demonstration of the operation of the drone was organized at the Krishi Mela every hour for the farmers and spectators who gathered at the Krishi Mela. |
Krishimela- LivestockDemonstration of DESI breeds of cows (Punganur, Kankrej), bundur sheep, goats, chickens and Mudhol dogs, various types of fish breeds and ornamental fishes were exhibited in the animal husbandry section of Krishimela. |
Krishimela - ExhibitionAgriculture, Horticulture and Veterinary universities, gricultural Research Institutes, various Development Departments, Self Help Groups, Non-Governmental Organizations, Agricultural Equipment Manufacturers, Distributors etc. participated exhibition. In this exhibition arrangements were made for the display and sale of various new agricultural machinery to facilitate agriculture. |
Krishimela- Millet MelaUnited Nation has declared 2023 as Millet Year. Hence, Millet Mela was organized and millet mela inaugurated Mr. B.Y. Vijayandra, Shri Jagadish Shettar, Shri Yatindra Siddaramaiah, Shri. Niranjan Kumar in the divine presence of His Holiness. In the Millet mela millets live crops has been demonstrated and exhibition sale of millet value added products. Apart from this, a millet cooking competition was organized. 3 prizes each were awarded for sweet and savory millet food separately. |
Krishimela- Farmers awardAward to Progressive Farmers and farmwomen in collaboration with Mrs. Sundaramma Veerabhadrappa Pratisthana of Yalandur Taluk Duggahatti village Madapaara Kendavare Padma Bhushan Mahadevappa Seva Trust (MKPBMST), Chamarajanagar. Farmers, farmwomen and devotees from various districts of Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and other states visit and benefit of Krishimela every day. The recent president of Karnataka Folk Academy Dr. Manjamma Jogati, Extension Director, Keladi Shivappanayaka University of Agricultural and Horticultural Sciences Director of Extension Dr. V. Hemla Nayak, Sri Easapriya Tirtha Sripadam of Sri Adamaru Mutt, Udupi, Former Extension Director, UAS, Bengaluru K.P. Vishwanath visited the Krishi Mela and appreciated it. The agricultural fair and agricultural exhibition of this series, which was seen by more than 5 lakh people and rural folk. |
