Drone training programme

1-15 January 2025

ICAR JSS Krishi Vigyan Kendra Suttur organized Drone Pilot training (Adithya -Multiplex companies) sponsored by social welfare department facilitated by ICAR JSS KVK Suttur to organize Drone Pilot training for 6th batch 1-15 January 2025 for 15 days at KVK campus. The program was inaugurated on 1st January 2025 by JSS MVP horticulture director Shri. N M Shivashankarappa and addressed the gathering about use of new age technologies and ICAR JSS KVK Senior Scientist and Head Dr. B N Gnanesh explained about KVK role in organizing the training and facilities available at KVK. The program anchored by shri Shamaraj SMS(Agronomy) KVK Suttur. The valedictory program Drone Pilot training for 6th batch organized on 16th January 2025.

Technology Week (Krishimela 2025)

ICAR JSS Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Suttur organized Technology Week (Krishimela 2025) during January 25 to 31, 2025. The technology week was inaugurated by Shri N. Chaluvanarayana, Minister for Agriculture, Govt. of Karnataka in the divine presence His Holiness Jagadguru Sri Shivratri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji, other Pontiffs and other dignitaries.

Technology Week (Krishimela) is popularly known as “Krishi habba”. This year's Krishi Mela was organized under the theme 'Precision farming for sustainable agriculture to create awareness about latest technologies adopted in agriculture by using IoT (Internet of Things) among the rural folk. Live crop demonstration: The Krishimela demonstrated to grow almost all crops in drip irrigation management technologies such as automation in irrigation, drip irrigation and sprinkler irrigation etc., Also, it was shown that cereals, pulses, especially paddy, which is the main crop of this region, can be grown under drip irrigation system. Demonstrations of traditional and modern farming practices were arranged to introduce farmers to important technologies in the field of agriculture. More than 250 crops such as cereals, pulses, oilseeds, other sources of agricultural income such as cash crops, fodder crops, various fruits, hydroponics under soilless farming, and horticulture crops including exotic vegetables, flower crops in shade house, sericulture were displayed.

Expo of diversified Horticulture Crops: Under horticulture section, various vegetable crops, exotic vegetables, leafy vegetables, flower crops in different layouts were showcased.

One Acre IFS Model: Integrated sustainable farming model at low cost keeping in mind the sustainable livelihood of small and micro farmers, through the self-sustainable concept of 'Krishi Brahamanda' in One acre. A total 121 crops have been shown in one acre model demonstration. The four new varieties of red rice varieties under drip irrigation, fodder crops, millet, pulses, oilseed crops, medicinal plants, various green leafy vegetables were grown.

Livestock: The display of desi breeds of cows (Punganoor, Kankrej Etu, Saiwal etc.,) and also Bandur sheep, goat and chickens were showcased in the Krishi Mela livestock section. Tilapia fish breeds that can be reared by the farmers were displayed. More than 25 fodder crops were exhibited in front of the livestock demonstrations to know-how the varieties and use of fodders.

Agri Expo : Agriculture, horticulture and veterinary universities, agricultural research institutes, various line departments, self-help groups, non-governmental organizations, manufacturers of agricultural implements, distributors etc. participated in Krishimela. Around 103 stalls arranged to display their materials. They have provided necessary information in the agricultural exhibition for the farmers. Arrangements were made for the display and sale of various new agricultural machinery to facilitate agriculture in mechanization.

Seminar : An agriculture symposium on Precision farming for sustainable Agriculture was organized. Dr. Mahantesh B. Patil delivered a lecture on Sensory Based Plant Protection in Horticultural Crops, Sri. Vinod Sundram delivered a lecture on precision farming in fruit crops, Sri. Narasimhamurthy Kattimani delivered lecture on management of groundwater based agriculture irrigation and Sri. Suresh Balnadu delivered a lecture on precision farming in field crops. More than 2000 farmers/farmwomen and were participated in the seminar

Felicitation to farmers: The 12 progressive farmers and 5 progressive farm women were facilitated for promising yield gained in different crops and enterprise during the seminar by Deputy Leader of Opposition Legislative Assembly Sri. Aravinda Bellad and other dignitaries.

Rangooli and Sobane Competition: For rural women folks Rangooli and Sobane competition was organized. More than 200 actively participated in the programme.

Precision Farming

Monitoring, surveying and mapping crops using IoT – Internet of Things technology and rational farm management to save both time and money are demonstrated.

Biochar (Biochar Demonstration)

Biochar is a solid material derived from the carbonization of biomass. With the aim of improving soil functions. Biochar can be added to soil and reduce emissions from biomass that naturally decomposes into greenhouse gases.

Sugarcane Harvesting Machine

Arrangements have been made to demonstrate the sugarcane harvesting machine with the aim of introducing it to the farmers of this region. Sugarcane harvesting machine. 2 to 3 acres of sugarcane can be harvested in a day. Cost will be reduced by 45%. Harvesting at ground level yields 2 tons more per acre.

Organic Jaggary

Somasekhara Gowda of Bevinahalli in Mandya district grinds sugarcane, cooks it and sells various types of organic jaggery at the demonstration site is a major attraction from the rual folk and others.

Drone Demonstration

Agriculture drone has been demonstrated for the rural folk and provide necessary information of nano fertilizers and usage of pesticides through drone.
