ICAR JSS Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Suttur organized Technology Week (Krishimela 2025) during January 25 to 31, 2025. The technology week was inaugurated by Shri N. Chaluvanarayana, Minister for Agriculture, Govt. of Karnataka in the divine presence His Holiness Jagadguru Sri Shivratri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji, other Pontiffs and other dignitaries.
Technology Week (Krishimela) is popularly known as “Krishi habba”. This year's Krishi Mela was organized under the theme 'Precision farming for sustainable agriculture to create awareness about latest technologies adopted in agriculture by using IoT (Internet of Things) among the rural folk. Live crop demonstration: The Krishimela demonstrated to grow almost all crops in drip irrigation management technologies such as automation in irrigation, drip irrigation and sprinkler irrigation etc., Also, it was shown that cereals, pulses, especially paddy, which is the main crop of this region, can be grown under drip irrigation system. Demonstrations of traditional and modern farming practices were arranged to introduce farmers to important technologies in the field of agriculture. More than 250 crops such as cereals, pulses, oilseeds, other sources of agricultural income such as cash crops, fodder crops, various fruits, hydroponics under soilless farming, and horticulture crops including exotic vegetables, flower crops in shade house, sericulture were displayed.
Expo of diversified Horticulture Crops: Under horticulture section, various vegetable crops, exotic vegetables, leafy vegetables, flower crops in different layouts were showcased.
One Acre IFS Model: Integrated sustainable farming model at low cost keeping in mind the sustainable livelihood of small and micro farmers, through the self-sustainable concept of 'Krishi Brahamanda' in One acre. A total 121 crops have been shown in one acre model demonstration. The four new varieties of red rice varieties under drip irrigation, fodder crops, millet, pulses, oilseed crops, medicinal plants, various green leafy vegetables were grown.
Livestock: The display of desi breeds of cows (Punganoor, Kankrej Etu, Saiwal etc.,) and also Bandur sheep, goat and chickens were showcased in the Krishi Mela livestock section. Tilapia fish breeds that can be reared by the farmers were displayed. More than 25 fodder crops were exhibited in front of the livestock demonstrations to know-how the varieties and use of fodders.
Agri Expo : Agriculture, horticulture and veterinary universities, agricultural research institutes, various line departments, self-help groups, non-governmental organizations, manufacturers of agricultural implements, distributors etc. participated in Krishimela. Around 103 stalls arranged to display their materials. They have provided necessary information in the agricultural exhibition for the farmers. Arrangements were made for the display and sale of various new agricultural machinery to facilitate agriculture in mechanization.
Seminar : An agriculture symposium on Precision farming for sustainable Agriculture was organized. Dr. Mahantesh B. Patil delivered a lecture on Sensory Based Plant Protection in Horticultural Crops, Sri. Vinod Sundram delivered a lecture on precision farming in fruit crops, Sri. Narasimhamurthy Kattimani delivered lecture on management of groundwater based agriculture irrigation and Sri. Suresh Balnadu delivered a lecture on precision farming in field crops. More than 2000 farmers/farmwomen and were participated in the seminar
Felicitation to farmers: The 12 progressive farmers and 5 progressive farm women were facilitated for promising yield gained in different crops and enterprise during the seminar by Deputy Leader of Opposition Legislative Assembly Sri. Aravinda Bellad and other dignitaries.
Rangooli and Sobane Competition: For rural women folks Rangooli and Sobane competition was organized. More than 200 actively participated in the programme.

Biochar (Biochar Demonstration)
Biochar is a solid material derived from the carbonization of biomass. With the aim of improving soil functions. Biochar can be added to soil and reduce emissions from biomass that naturally decomposes into greenhouse gases.
Arrangements have been made to demonstrate the sugarcane harvesting machine with the aim of introducing it to the farmers of this region. Sugarcane harvesting machine. 2 to 3 acres of sugarcane can be harvested in a day. Cost will be reduced by 45%. Harvesting at ground level yields 2 tons more per acre.
Organic Jaggary
Somasekhara Gowda of Bevinahalli in Mandya district grinds sugarcane, cooks it and sells various types of organic jaggery at the demonstration site is a major attraction from the rual folk and others.

Agriculture drone has been demonstrated for the rural folk and provide necessary information of nano fertilizers and usage of pesticides through drone.

On February 4, 2025, Dr. U.M. Rakshitraj, a Subject Matter Specialist in Animal Science at ICAR JSS KVK, Suttur, took part in a workshop focused on Animal Science and Fish Science held at KVK Brahmavar in Udupi. He showcased the initiatives carried out under the livestock program, including the upkeep of the DESI goshala, demonstration units for vermicomposting, various fodder varieties, an azolla production unit, and the livestock programs that were organized by the KVK during the year 2024-25.

A training program focused on Scientific Animal Husbandry practices was conducted from February 13 to 15, 2025, in collaboration with CEAH Hesaraghatta, Bangalore at ICAR JSS Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Suttur. The program covered scientific approaches to livestock management, the introduction of various fodder crop varieties, vermicomposting, preparation of Jeevamrutha and the management of sheep and goats. Over 70 rural youth took part in the training.

Capacity building programme on Integrated Crop Management in black gram was organized by ICAR JSS KVK on 21.04.2025 at Chandahalli village of T. Narasipur taluk under the Model Pulse Village (Model Pulse Village) project. A three-day farmers' Ex-trainees Sammelan was organized 3-5 May 2025 by Jagadguru Sri Veerasimhasana Mahasamsthan Math, JSS Mahavidyapeetha and Sri Shivaratrieshwara Religious Endowments. The samelan was inaugurated on 03.5.2025 by Dr. B. N. Dhananjaya, Deputy Director, Naganahalli District Agricultural Training Center, Mysore. The inauguration ceremony was presided by the Administrator of JSS Institutions, Sri S.P. Udayashankar and Resource Person, Mr. Chandrashekhar Naranapura. On the first day of Samelan, Natural Agriculture expert Mr. Chandrashekhar Naranapura delivered a lecture on monoculture, bi-culture and integrated farming systems. Dr. B.N. Gnanesh, Senior Scientist and Head of JSS Krishi Vigyan Kendra, delivered a lecture on precision agriculture. He called for the efficient use of water, a natural resource is must in these days of scarcity of water and other resources. On the second day of the samelan, agricultural expert Dr. Halathi Somashekar called on farmers to turn their farmland into a laboratory and grow chemical-free crops under the theme of Vedic agriculture. Mr. Vinod, Manager of State Bank of India, Suttur, provided information about the loan facilities and schemes available to farmers from the state government and the central government. Dr. B.N. Shadaksha Murthy of the Animal Husbandry Department informed the farmers about the subsidy facilities available from the government for raising chickens and sheep along with animal husbandry and growing various types of fodder crops. On the third day of the samelan, Shri G. Krishnaprasad of Sahaja Samriddhi Institute informed the farmers about the conservation and production of indigenous seeds. Shri P. Shivakumaraswamy, progressive farmer gave information about the industries in agriculture and their functioning. He called upon the farmers to engage in agricultural industries along with farming. Shri N. Kesavamurthy, Executive Director of All India Radio, Mysore spoke about agriculture in Indian culture, which has been passed down since ancient times. Farmers need to adopt integrated farming systems and traditional farming system for better result. A total of 182 campers participated in the samelan, out of which 168 were males and 14 were females. They participated in Mysuru and neighboring districts of Mysuru.

SMS (Home Science) conducted on day training programme on food processing and explained about various food processing opportunities for rural youths and women entrepreneurs and explained about various state and central government schemes for establishing the food processing enterprises and startups. On July 7, 2025, a training session for ITC Outreach, MYCAPS, and BIF Agriculture Officers was conducted at KVK. The staff members of ICAR JSS KVK, along with 20 SCSP farmers during 22-26 July 2025, visited ICAR KVK Kolhapur-I. During the visit to KVK, they observed popular breeds in the goshala, the segregation of cows by age and gender, and toured the goshala by-products units, the natural farming unit, as well as the micronutrient mixture and bio-control laboratory unit located on the KVK campus. The team also visited KVK Baramati to learn about the implementation of artificial intelligence in field crops, particularly sugarcane. They visited the fields of farmers who are utilizing AI in their agricultural practices and collected information from these farmers.

A three-day sheep and goat farming training was held for livestock entrepreneurs from 18.08.2025 to 20.08.2025 in collaboration with the Centre for Animal Husbandry Excellence, Government of India, Hesaraghatta, Bangalore. Dr. H. Theggi inaugurated the event. Dr. Mohan Kumar, Assistant Director of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services in Nanjangud, advised that sheep and goat farming should begin with low-cost barns and small numbers before expanding. He emphasized the department's support for farmers. Dr. B.N. Ganesh, presiding over the programme, encouraged farmers to focus on market-driven sheep and goat farming and to attend ongoing training sessions for scientific guidance. Over 60 rural youth paricipated in the programme.

On 25.08.2025, a training session on scientific cultivation of ginger and other horticultural crops was held at Ganshed village in HD Kote taluk, organized in collaboration with KVK and the Horticulture Department, HD Kote. Dr. B.N. Gnanesh, Senior Scientist and Head discussed the role of soil and water testing in agriculture and horticulture. Dr. Vinay G.M. provided information on various aspects of horticulture, including land preparation, planting, and nutrient management. Dr. Prasad Y.P. spoke about integrated pest and disease management in horticultural crops. More than 80 farmers attended the event.

The Honourable Union Minister of Agriculture, Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, visited the field of progressive farmer Sri Lakshmaiyya Sriramu in Varuna, Mysuru, who has been cultivating crops under the technical guidance of ICAR JSS Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Mysuru. The Honourable Member of Parliament from Mysuru, Shri Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar, also accompanied him. The event was organised by ICAR JSS KVK, Suttur, Mysuru, under the guidance of Dr. M. J. Chandregowda, Principal Scientist, ICAR–ATARI, Bengaluru. Mysuru District Commissioner, officials from agriculture and allied departments, and more than 50 farmers participated in the programme. The progressive farmer has been cultivating more than 15 horticultural crops, including ginger, papaya, banana, sapota, coconut, and mango, on four acres as intercrops. He practices organic farming techniques and adopts multiple/multilayer cropping systems, agroforestry, and integrated nutrient management technologies, including the use of biofertilizers under the guidance of ICAR JSS KVK. The Honourable Minister interacted with progressive farmer and appreciated the intercropping of ginger with coconut. He noticed the ginger crop and enquired about the recent incidence of leaf spot disease and its management practices. The farmer explained that timely interventions and guidance from KVK scientists, including the application of appropriate chemical sprays, had helped in reducing the disease and restoring crop health. The Honourable Minister also noticed the plantation of Nanjangud Rasabale, a banana variety with Geographical Indication (GI) status and recognised as the One District One Product (ODOP) crop of Mysuru district. Shri Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar highlighted its unique features, including lower sugar content, making it suitable for people with diabetes. The Honourable Minister discussed the challenges faced by farmers in cultivating Nanjangud Rasabale and enquired about departmental subsidies. Dr. Gnanesh BN, Senior Scientist and Head, along with other KVK scientists, briefed him about the severe impact of Panama wilt disease on banana crops and the subsidy support of Rs. 55,000 per hectare provided to farmers in Nanjangud Taluk. The Minister suggested that farmers seek technical guidance from ICAR scientists to effectively manage Panama wilt disease. Later, the Honourable Minister visited the papaya plot, where he appreciated the farmer for achieving good yields. He enquired about the interventions of KVK scientists, and the support extended to farmers in improving crop production. The discussion emphasised the collaborative efforts undertaken to optimise papaya cultivation. The Honourable Minister recommended the adoption of diversified, multilayered cropping systems and encouraged optimal use of available land resources. Addressing the farmers, he remarked that such approaches serve as a model for sustainable intensification, enhancing income, improving resilience, and preserving local crop heritage. The Honourable Member of Parliament from Mysuru, Shri Yaduveer Wadiyar, felicitated the Honourable Union Minister of Agriculture, Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, and expressed his gratitude.

World Coconut Day was observed at ICAR JSS Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Suttur, themed "Let's spread the power of coconut to the world," in partnership with Agricultural Technologists Mysore Unit, ICAR-National Agricultural Pest Resource Bureau, Bangalore, and Shobhitha Nanjegowda Farm, Kennalu on September 2, 2025. A program focusing on advanced farming techniques for coconut cultivation and a farmer-scientist engagement initiative was conducted. The chief guests were retired Assistant Director of Agriculture, Dr. K.R. Ravindra, and Dr. V. Gundappa, Senior Scientists at NBAIR, Bangalore. The program was presided by Dr. B.N. Gnanesh, Senior Scientist and Head, ICAR JSSKVK, Mysuru, he mentioned that in recent times, the number of farmers cultivating coconut crops has increased, but the problem of unavailability of quality seedlings is arising. In this regard, farmers were provided information about selection and growth of good seedlings and how we can comprehensively manage the plantation by utilizing the agricultural waste available in the coconut plantation. A two-day Soppu Mela (Green leafy vegetables Mela) focused on enhancing the awareness of green leafy vegetables as healthy food while rekindling the rich diversity of traditional leafy vegetables took place at Nanjarajabahaddur choultry, Mysuru on September 6-7, 2025, in partnership with Sahaja Seeds, Mysuru and Hulikaadu Farmers Producer Company. Over 100 types of leafy green vegetables were presented. The program featured a cooking contest focused on leafy greens. 36 participants presented variety of dishes made from greens. In the drawing contest 35 children participated and portrayed the world of greens through colours. Over 2000 people from rural and urban areas participated in the mela. The programme was inaugurated by Shri. M. Shivakumar, Azim Premji Foundation, Sri. Krishna Prasad, Sahaja seeds, Dr. B.N. Gnanesh, Senior Scientist and Head, ICAR JSSKVK, Mysuru along with other dignitaries.

The 11th meeting of the Pulse Seed Hub Project Advisory Committee (PAC) was held at ICAR JSS Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Suttur, Nanjangud Taluk, Mysuru, on 8th September 2025. The meeting was chaired by the Executive Secretary of JSS Mahavidyapeetha, Mysuru. A total of fourteen members attended the meeting and provided suggestions for the improvement of the pulses seed hub project. Dr. B.N. A training and demonstration session on seed treatment was organised for cowpea variety KBC 9 and green gram variety KKM3 on 10th September 2025 at Karanakuppe village, Hunsur taluk. The event was conducted in partnership with ITC and the Outreach Institute, as well as the Department of Agriculture and Department of Horticulture. Mrs. H.V. Divya emphasised the significance of seed treatment, pre-planting spraying of nursery beds, and the inclusion of potash, zinc, and boron alongside nitrogen and phosphorus during early growth stages to maximise rice yields. She explained that organic fertilisers help stabilise nitrogen and phosphorus, thereby reducing disease incidence. The programme was attended by Panchayat President Papanna, Agriculture Department Officer Jayakumar, Horticulture Officer Ravi, Outreach Programme Officer Vishwajith, KVK Seedhub Project Technical Officer Akshay, and ATMA Officer Shashi Kumar. On 10th September 2025, ICAR JSS KVK, Suttur Food Processing Unit, conducted a demonstration on preparing various value-added food products such as ragi cookies, ragi mixture, ragi happal, and other assorted items. The event was organised in association with M/s Chandramouleshwar Women Producers Association from Madapura, H. D. Kote Taluk, under the TSP programme. Dr. Deepak, Subject Matter Specialist (Home Science), provided technical guidance to women farmers and self-help group members on processing and adding value to different agricultural and horticultural crops. He discussed the development of contemporary food products, including cookies, bread, buns, pasta, noodles, and bakery items, along with traditional foods like ragi happal, cereal malt, ragi lumps, ragi mixture, and sendige. Dr. Deepak also detailed various programmes offered by central and state governments and discussed opportunities for establishing small food businesses through the Central Government's Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises Scheme (PMFME). The training saw participation from over 38 farmwomen.

A training programme themed "Nutritious and Balanced Food and Supplementary Food for Children" was organised on 12th September 2025 at Kupparavalli Anganwadi Centre as part of the National Nutrition Mission-2025. The event was held in partnership with ITC Pratham Sansthan, Nanjangud. Dr. Deepak, Subject Matter Specialist (Home Science), explained that the Rashtriya Poshan Mission is celebrated annually in India from 1st to 30th September, as a part of the Government of India's Poshan Abhiyan initiative. The campaign's goal is to eradicate malnutrition by promoting the message "Eat Right for a Better Life." The Krishi Vigyan Kendra supports this initiative through multiple programmes and technical assistance to schools and Anganwadi centres in various villages, encouraging the establishment of nutritious home gardens and adherence to healthy dietary practices. More than 30 women and children participated in the programme.

In a joint effort with JSS Jana Shikshan Sansthan, Mysuru, a two-month vocational training programme on value addition was launched on 15th September 2025 at Someshwarapur village, Mysuru taluk, under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India. Dr. Deepak, Subject Matter Specialist (Home Science), observed that the training provided significant benefits to women farmers and self-help group members, equipping them with the skills to create and market a range of value-added food products via their self-help groups. The programme was attended by Mrs. Leela Shivakumar, Vice President, Director Mr. Ramesh, and Programme Coordinator Mrs. Saubhagya of JSS Jana Shikshan Sansthan, Mysuru. More than 42 farmwomen participated in the training.

A five-day training programme on natural farming was organised from 16th to 20th September 2025 for agricultural assistants, known as Krishi Sakhis, in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture, Mysore, under the National Mission on Natural Farming Scheme of the Government of India. Dr. G.M. Vinay, Subject Matter Specialist (Horticulture), shared foundational knowledge on natural farming, its relevance in present-day agriculture, the creation of farming implements, suitable crops, intercropping, and horticultural plants. Dr. Gnanesh, Senior Scientist and Head, discussed the importance of soil and its management, while Mr. Shamaraj, SMS (Agronomy), spoke on cropping systems, integrated farming systems, and the procedures from sowing to harvesting in natural farming. Mrs. H.V. Divya, SMS (Seed Technology), highlighted the role of seeds and seed production in natural farming. The programme was presided over by Shri Ravi, Assistant Director of Agriculture, Nanjangud Taluk, and Mr. Satish, Nodal Officer for the NMNF Project. A total of 80 Krishi Sakhis participated in the training.

The Suttur Institutions Heads took part in the event. Sri G.L. Tripuranthaka, the coordinator of JSS Institution, addressed the audience regarding Mahatma Gandhiji, Lal Bahadur Shastriji Jayanti, and the significance of Senior Citizens Day. Additionally, Mrs. Tulsimala and Mr. Sadananda, residents of the old age home, expressed their thoughts. Senior Citizens from old age home, staff, and school children witnessed the programme.

On October 11, 2025, in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture, a traning session focused on pulses farming techniques and value addition, along with a live telecast of the PM Dhan-Dhana Krishi Yojana and Pulses Self Reliance Mission program, was conducted at the ICAR JSS Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Suttur. Mr. Ravi, the Assistant Director of Agriculture from Nanjangud, inaugurated the event and urged farmers to prioritize the cultivation of pulses. Dr. B.N. Gnanesh, Senior Scientist and Head, ICAR JSS Krishi Vigyan Kendra, presided over the program and stated that the Union Government's objective is to enhance domestic production and attain self-reliance in pulses through the Pulses Self-Reliance Mission. This mission is set to be executed over a six-year period from 2025-26 to 2030-31, with a financial allocation of ₹11,440 crore. He emphasized that the goal of the initiative is to achieve self-sufficiency in pulses, decrease reliance on imports, boost farmers' income, and conserve valuable foreign exchange.

She said that the women trained in KVK have excelled in agriculture, engaged in small scale production and become financially empowered. In collaboration with the Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA) Mysuru, the Department of Agriculture conducted a five-day training program on organic farming at the ICAR JSS Krishi Vigyan Kendra in Suttur. The event was inaugurated by B. N. Gnanesh, Senior Scientist and Head of ICAR JSS KVK, Suttur, who encouraged farmers and women to embrace organic farming due to the increasing demand for organic products. Mr. Satish, Deputy Project Director of ATMA , Mysuru present in the programme. Throughout the program, participants explored various aspects of organic farming, including fundamental principles, essential practices, soil and water management, and their implications for human health. The curriculum also covered topics such as seed preservation, animal husbandry, organic pest management, and the marketing of organic products. Trainee farmers had the opportunity to visit successful organic farmers, Mr. Prabhu Swamy from Suralli village and Mr. Prithviraj Chauhan from Varakodu village, where they observed demonstrations on the preparation and application of natural farming techniques like Panchagavya and Jeevamrutha. In collaboration with Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA) Mysuru, the Department of Agriculture and the University of Agricultural Sciences, Mandya organized a five-day skill training program focused on Agricultural Technician and Agricultural Machinery. The program was inaugurated by Dr. Sridevi, Professor, University Agricultural Sciences, Mandya, emphasized the importance of farmers learning to repair their own agricultural machinery. This initiative aims to equip farmers with the necessary skills for machinery repair. Dr. B. N. Gnanesh, Senior Scientist and Head of ICAR JSS KVK, Suttur, presided over the function highlighted the need for farmers to visit local taluk centres for repairs, which can be time-consuming and costly. This training is designed to enable farmers to repair essential machinery on-site, thereby saving both time and expenses. Mr. Raghuveer, the Agricultural Officer of Nanjangudu taluk was the chief guest at the event, encouraged participants to share their newly acquired skills with fellow farmers in their communities. He also provided information on available subsidies for agricultural machinery through the Department of Agriculture. Throughout the training, participants learned to repair various types of pesticide sprayers used in agriculture and horticulture, as well as the significance of machinery in IoT-based agriculture. Instruction included tractor operation, maintenance of multipurpose weeders, and demonstrations on battery sprayer repair and brush cutter upkeep. Additionally, the establishment of custom hiring centers was covered. The farmers also had the opportunity to visit the AICRP on Farm Implements and Machinery Agro Processing Unit, Jaggery Park, and the Zonal Agriculture Research Station at VC Farm, Mandya. A total of 42 farmers from various taluks in Mysore district participated in this comprehensive training program, enhancing their technical skills in agricultural machinery. The Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi transferred ₹18,000 crore as the 21st instalment to Indian farmers under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana during and Technical Agricultural Summit 2025 held at the Coimbatore. This programme have been live telecasted at ICAR JSS Krishi Vigan Kendra, Suttur. Dr. B.N. Gnanesh, Senior Scientist and Head of ICAR JSS KVK, highlighted the PM Kisan scheme, that provides essential income support ₹6,000 per year for farmers. This programme originally launched by the Telangana Government as the Raitha Bandhu Yojana before being expanded nationwide on February 1, 2019, by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare. To access the Kisan Samman fund, farmers must obtain a Farmers' Identity Card from the Agriculture Department and link their Aadhaar and bank accounts. On this occasion, farmers were encouraged to utilize these funds for agricultural purposes rather than other expenditures. Additionally, progressive farmers Mr. Mahadevu from Kikkeri village and Mr. Manjunatha from Saraguru village, recognized for their contributions to mushroom and silk cultivation and their decade-long work in agricultural machinery repair, were honoured during the event. The event saw participation from ICAR JSS KVK staff and around 200 farmers and farmer women.

The event was inaugurated by Dr. N.N. Asha, Assistant Professor at the University of Agricultural Sciences, Mandya, with progressive farmer Mrs. Lalitha as guest. Dr. B.N. Mashroom cultivation encouraging the farmers and women to consider it as a supplementary venture alongside their primary agricultural activities. The training covered essential topics such as environmental requirements for cultivation, temperature and humidity control, sanitation practices, and the construction of suitable growing facilities. Participants learned about the selection of raw materials, preparation of growing mediums, sterilization methods, disease and pest management, and the preparation of mushroom spawn, including various types like Oyster, Milky, and Button mushrooms. Additionally, the program addressed the stages of mushroom growth, infection prevention, hygiene measures, and the development of mushroom-based value-added products, along with techniques for harvesting, packaging, drying, and storage to ensure quality maintenance. A five-day beekeeping skill training program was conducted from December 1–5, 2025, in collaboration with the Agriculture Technology Management Agency(ATMA), Department of Agriculture, Mysuru. The event inaugurated Dr. Rajagopal, Rtd. Dean, Agriculture Collage who emphasized the crucial role of honeybees in sustaining human life and maintaining the biological chain. He noted that honey farming was introduced as a subject at the agricultural university in 1996 and recommended broader dissemination of beekeeping training to raise awareness among farmers. Dr. B.N. Gnanesh, Senior Scientist and Head, ICAR JSS Krishi Vigyan Kendra, highlighted the significance of honey in Ayurvedic medicine. He explained that increased pollination through apiculture can lead to higher crop yields. He also mentioned that individuals without land can still engage in honey cultivation by using boxes placed with permission from landowners. The trainees encouraged fellow farmers within their communities to adopt beekeeping practices. A total of 42 farmers and farm women from various taluks in Mysuru district participated in the program. On 03.12.2025, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed with the Director, ICAR Indian Institute of Horticultural Research, Bengaluru for sourcing technologies for production of Arka Banana Special, Trichoderma, Pseudomonas, AMC, and Arka Flower Agarbatti and Dhoop in large quantities at KVK. The technology production agreement aims to enhance crop yield, improve productivity, promote entrepreneurship and increase farm product returns. Women's Day in Agriculture was held on 4th December 2025 at ICAR JSS Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Suttur. Dr. Noor Fathima, Associate Professor at JSS Ayurveda College, encouraged farmers to make use of backyard plants for better health. Mrs. Gayathri, a progressive farmer, recommended growing fruits and vegetables at home. Dr. Ramegowda highlighted innovative practices Eranagere Badane by farmwomen and acknowledged women's contributions to agriculture. Mrs. Gayathri was honoured at the event. The event witnessed over 70 participants, including farmers, farm women, ayurvedic students, and faculty members. Smt. H.V. Divya, Subject Matter Specialist (Seed Technology) opened with remarks on the significance of women in agriculture.

KVK marked World Soil Day and held a field festival for the Sahyadri Kempu Mukti rice variety at Nagarle village in Nanjangud Taluk on December 5, 2025. During the event, Dr. Dushyant, Director of Research at Koladi Shivappanayaka University of Agriculture and Horticulture, Shivamogga expressed concern over farmers increasing use of chemical fertilizers and weedicides, which is harming soil health. He emphasized that just as people maintain their health with green and organic manure, they should also prioritize the health of the soil. Dr. B.N. Gnanesh, Senior Scientist and Head of ICAR JSS KVK, noted that levels of organic carbon have risen in agricultural soils. He advised farmers to test their soil every two years once and apply fertilizers according to expert guidance. Furthe, he opened Dr. Dushyant, Director of Research, KSUAHS, Shivamogga introduced the Sahyadri Kempumukti rice variety as an alternative to Jyoti paddy, highlighting its resistance to blast and its thicker, shinier grains compared to Jyoti. This new variety is expected to boost yields, and he was pleased to report that over 500 acres of Sahyadri kempumukti had already been planted in Nanjangud taluk.

An online telecast programme of Agriculture Minister Shri. Shivraj Singh Chouhan spoke to farmers has been organised at ICAR-JSS Krishi Vigyan Kendra on National Farmers Day. On the other side an animal health camp was held in Basavanapura village with support from the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services, where over 85 cattle received vaccinations. During the programme Dr. B.N. Gnanesh highlighted Chaudhary Charan Singh's birthday is celebrated as Farmers’ Day and encouraged farmers to utilize employment schemes like Rozgar and Aajeevika Mission Rural Guarantee Act, 2025 G RAM G. On Farmers Day, Mrs. Ashwini, Doora village, Mrs. Bindu R. Suma Nagaraju of Belthoor and Shri. Raju was felicitated on this occasion. Sri Chandramouleshwara Mahila Producers Association was provided with Banana Chip Making Machine, Sealing Machine and Weighing Machine by ICAR JSS KVK Suttur for economic self-reliance and promoting entrepreneurship.
