A workshop on scientific cultivation practices, marketing opportunities, and export prospects for traditional crops with a geographical background was held on 07 January 2026 at ICAR JSS Krishi Vigyan Kendra. The event was organised in collaboration with the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), Bengaluru. Dr. B.N. Gnanesh, Senior Scientist and Head of ICAR JSSKVK, informed that KVK will support Mysuru district farmers in cultivating traditional crops. Efforts are underway to export overseas Nanjangud Rasabale and Mysuru Mallige crops in partnership with APEDA, Bengaluru. Shri U. Dharmarao, Regional Assistant Managing Director; Mrs. Madhumathi Andrews, Manager at APEDA, Bengaluru; and Sri C. Chandru, Senior Assistant Director of Horticulture, Nanjangud were in the progarmme.

On 15 January 2025 His Holiness Jagadguru Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji flag-off the event on export of GI-tagged Nanjangud Rasabale and Mysore beetle leaves at ICAR JSS KVK, Suttur. The programme was organized in collaboration with APEDA, Bengaluru and Department of Horticulture, Mysuru and ICAR JSS Krishi Vigyan Kendra. His Holiness expressed happiness about exporting the Nanjangud Rasabale and Mysore beetle leaves to the Maldives and hoped it would reach other countries soon. Noting global demand for organic products, His Holiness stressed the farmers to pursue organic farming in a large scale. Dr. B.N. ICAR JSS Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Suttur organized Technology Week (Krishimela 2025) during January 25 to 31, 2025. The technology week was inaugurated by Shri N. Chaluvanarayana, Minister for Agriculture, Govt. of Karnataka in the divine presence His Holiness Jagadguru Sri Shivratri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji, other Pontiffs and other dignitaries.
Technology Week was held in Suttur from 15-20 January 2026, featuring demonstrations of both traditional and modern agricultural practices. Farmers were introduced to key technologies and over 250 crop varieties, including commercial cereals, pulses, oilseeds, fodder crops, legumes, exotic vegetables, flower and horticulture crops. Other topics presented included sericulture, drip and sprinkler irrigation, and natural farming techniques.
Mysore's geographical crops, including Nanjangud Rasabale, Mysore betel leaves, and Eeernagere variety Brinjal, were showcased. Facility has been made about crop details (variety, duration, etc.) through QR code.

Saiwal), Jafrabadi buffaloes, Bandur sheep, goats, poultry, rabbits, and several fish varieties for farmers.

Graduating students and faculty from the School of Global Food Resources at Hokkaido University, Japan, visited ICAR JSS KVK Circular on 19 February 2026 as part of the Sakura Science Program. The Head and Senior Scientist of KVK provided an overview of the institution via a PowerPoint presentation. Participants engaged in discussions and gathered information pertaining to GI crops, the socio-economic conditions of farmers, and prospects for future collaboration within Mysuru district. The group subsequently toured the Agriclinic and Demonstration Centre at KVK to further enhance their understanding. Faculty members, administrative staff, and students were present during the visit.

The meeting for the ICAR Krishi Vigyan Kendras' Action Plan 2026-27 and Annual Report 2025 was convened at KVK, Shimoga from February 25 to 27, 2026. A three-day training for Biodiversity Entrepreneurs from Southern Karnataka was held by the Regional Centre for Organic and Natural Farming, Bengaluru, with support from the Department of Agriculture, Mysuru, and ICAR JSS Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Suttur, on 03.03.2026 under the National Mission on Natural Farming. The focus was on the role of Block Resource Centres (BRCs) in promoting and facilitating natural farming among farmers. Speakers emphasized improving tool quality and ensuring access to information and resources. Dr. B.N. Gnanesh, Senior Scientist and Head of ICAR-JSS Krishi Vigyan Kendra, emphasized the importance of BRCs maintaining high-quality natural farming tools. With over 7,000 BRCs nationwide and growing farmer interest in natural farming, he advised that BRCs stay well-informed to support farmers. The event, themed "Give to Profit," emphasized the importance of promoting generosity, collaboration, and positive support for women, as well as providing resources and enhancing women's visibility to advance gender equality. On 13.03.2026, Prime Minister Narendra Modi transferred Rs.2000/- to 9.32 crore farmers during the 22nd PM Kisan Samman Nidhi event in Guwahati, Assam. The programme was live-streamed at ICAR-JSS Krishi Vigyan Kendra, where Dr. B.N. Gnanesh explained the required documents for claiming the PM Kisan amount, which will be used for agricultural activities. Over 50 farmers attended participated in the programme.

On March 16, 2026, a training program on Improved Ginger Cultivation Methods was held at the Extension Education Unit of the Research Centre for Organic Farming in Naganahalli, Mysuru Taluk. The Karnataka Forest Department, Mysuru, together with ICAR-JSS Krishi Vigyan Kendra in Suttur, held a three-day Agro Forestry Workshop from March 23 to March 25, 2026 at the ICAR-JSS Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Suttur. The event was chaired by the Conservator of Forests, Mysore Circle. Dr. S.S. Ravishankar, IFS, formally opened the workshop, emphasizing the significance of forest-based agriculture, conservation, and forest farming as sustainable practices. He discussed the contributions of forest officials and farmers. Guest speaker Dr. B.N. Gnanesh, Senior Scientist and Head, ICAR JSSKVK, Suttur addressed the audience, offering insights about local crops within Mysuru district's geographical context and expressing concern about ongoing conflicts between humans and wildlife. He highlighted the effects of global temperature changes and advocated for organic farming. Paramesh spoke on agroforestry, stressing its role in environmental protection and the advantages of forest farming. Presiding over the programme, Deputy Conservator of Forests Sri. Shankaragowda outlined the objectives, introduced new agricultural technologies, and discussed ways to add value. The workshop saw participation from more than 50 farmers.

A one-day training programme on Advanced Cultivation Methods of Coconut Crops was organized on 06.04.2026 at Organic Farming Research Centre, Extension Education Unit, Naganahalli, Mysuru Taluk, in association with ICAR JSS Institute of Poetics and Agricultural Technologists, Mysuru Unit, Suttur. The programme was inaugurated by Senior Scientist and Head of JSS KVK Dr. B.N. From 7th to 11th April, a five-day summer camp was organized at ICAR JSS Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Suttur. Director of Rural Development, JSS Mahavidyapeetha, Mysuru, Shri. M. N. Sivasankarappa inaugurated the programme. The chief guest, Mr. G.L. Tripurananda was present. The programme was presided over by Senior Scientist and Head Dr B.N. Gananesh. During the five-day camp, the Shloka was taught to the children of the camp every day. Various aspects of agriculture were discussed. Training was imparted in horticulture, bee-keeping, seed-bed making, bullock cart and tractor ride. Desi games such as Lagori, Buguri, Rajguri, Kunte Bille were played. The main attraction of the last day of the camp was the Children's Farmer's Fair where children dressed up as farmers and farmwomen actively participated in the trading of vegetables, buttermilk, sorbet, usuli, fruits, betel nuts, popcorn, and other agricultural products with great enthusiasm. The chief guest at the valedictory function was Prof. V. Jagannath were present. More than 47 children participated in the camp.

Sri Shivarathreeshwara Rural Development Foundation, Mysuru in association with Institute of Agricultural Technologists, Mysuru Chapter organized a one-day training on Importance and Use of Biopesticides in Agriculture on 07.04.2026 at ICAR JSS Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Suttur. N.M. Shivashankarappa, Director of Rural Development, JSS Mahavidyapeetha inaugurated the programme, spoke on the ill-effects of excessive use of pesticides in modern agriculture. Dr. KR. Ravindra, Secretary of the Mysore Chapter of IAT said that we should develop the trend of using bio pesticides in agriculture and told the farmers about the benefits of bio pesticides. The programme was presided over by Dr. B.N. Gananesh said that these biopesticides play an important role in improving soil health in agriculture, so farmers are urged to use biopesticides instead of overusing pesticides. Mysore University Professor Dr. Manjunath gave information on the use of biopesticides such as Trendocoderma, Sodomonas, Metarhizium, Amphelomycin, and other organisms, precautionary measures before use and seed treatment. He gave examples of management of disease in coconut, banana and pomegranate. More than 50 farmers participated in the programme.

A three-day Ex-Trainees Sammelan was organized from May 1 to May 3, 2026, in conjunction with the National Campaign on Balanced Use of Fertilizers to create awareness among farmers about sustainable agricultural practices. The programme was inaugurated on May 1, 2026, by Dr. Ashok Dalwai, Chairman of the Agricultural Prices Commission and the Institute for Social and Economic Change, Bengaluru. The chief guest of the programme was A. B. Patil, President of the Institute of Agricultural Technologists and Technical Advisor to the Hon’ble Minister of Agriculture, Government of Karnataka. The programme was presided over by Dr. S. V. Suresh, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Agricultural Sciences, Bengaluru. During the Sammelan, Shri Channappa Angadi delivered a comprehensive lecture on Indian agriculture and culture. Dr. Vithal I. Benagi discussed holistic organic and natural farming practices and their benefits for sustainable agriculture. Dr. Nagarajappa Adivappar addressed the topic of crop diversification and mixed cropping systems, highlighting the challenges faced by farmers and suggesting possible solutions. Dr. H. A. Bindu informed the participants about the importance of standardization of agricultural produce and guided farmers on marketing their products through both private and government channels. Shri Nagendra Kumar shared valuable insights on the export of agricultural commodities and emphasized the importance of accessing global markets to secure better returns. A video presentation on the National Campaign on Balanced Use of Fertilizers was screened for the participants. Experts also provided information on increasing soil organic carbon to improve soil health and productivity. In addition, a special session on snail farming was conducted, highlighting its potential as an alternative income-generating enterprise for farmers. More than 250 farmers and farm women participated in the three-day programme, making the Ex-Trainees Sammelan a grand success.

A special awareness campaign on the balanced use of fertilizers in agriculture was organized on 14.05.2026 at Jalahalli village in collaboration with the ICAR–Indian Institute of Horticultural Research. During the campaign, the Senior Scientist and Head, Dr. B. N. Gnanesh, delivered a lecture on the environmental impacts of excessive fertilizer use in agricultural fields. He emphasized the need to gradually reduce dependence on chemical fertilizers and increase the use of organic inputs and bio-fertilizers for sustainable crop production. Subject Matter Specialist Dr. G. M. Vinay highlighted the importance of balanced fertilizer application in horticultural crops and stressed the need for regular soil testing to ensure efficient nutrient management. Subject Matter Specialist Smt. H. V. Divya discussed the challenges associated with fertilizer use in pulse crop cultivation and seed production. Principal Scientist Dr. Umamaheswari, along with Dr. Sridhar, Dr. Sujatha, and Dr. Bhanupriya, provided information about the activities and research initiatives of the Indian Institute of Horticultural Research. They encouraged farmers to apply fertilizers according to the recommended doses to achieve higher yields and effectively manage pests and diseases. The scientists also advised farmers to reduce excessive fertilizer use and adopt bio-fertilizers and bio-pesticides as sustainable alternatives for crop nutrition and pest management. More than 100 farmers and farm women participated in the campaign, making the programme a great success.

A Jackfruit and Mango Fair was organized on 17–18 May 2026 at Nanjaraj Bahadur Choultry, Mysore, in collaboration with Sahaja Samriddhi, Desi Seeds Producer Company, the Horticulture Department, and Kisan Mall. Jackfruit and mango growers from various parts of Karnataka participated in the event, displaying and selling a wide range of fruits and seedlings. The fair also featured several engaging activities, including a painting competition for children, a jackfruit-eating competition for women, and a jackfruit-lifting competition for men, attracting enthusiastic participation from visitors. More than 300 urban residents and farmers participated in the event.

The ICAR–JSS Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Suttur, organized a field day on the black gram (Urad) variety LBG-791 under the Model Pulse Village Programme, along with a training programme on the balanced use of fertilizers. The field day was conducted in the field of farmer Mr. Prabhuswamy at Madapura village. Addressing the farmers, Mrs. H. V. Divya, Subject Matter Specialist (Seed Technology), informed them that farmers engaged in seed production would receive a price 15 percent higher than the prevailing market rate if they harvested and removed off-type plants, dried the produce properly, and brought the seed to the KVK. Under the Model Pulse Village Programme, the villages of Hiriyur, C. B. Hundi, Thotwadi, Madapura, Akkur, Chandali, and Chalalli have been selected. Farmers in these villages are being supplied, free of cost, with the new yellow leaf spot-resistant black gram variety LBG-791. Fertilizer recommendations will be provided based on soil test results. Mrs. Divya delivered a technical session covering soil testing methods, varietal introduction, seed treatment with biofertilizers, improved production technologies for higher yields, seed production practices, and the identification and removal of off-type and diseased plants. Mr. Shivanna from the ATMA Scheme briefed farmers on the facilities available through the Raitha Samparka Kendra, including seed distribution, subsidies for hiring agricultural equipment, and other support services. He also informed the gathering about the upcoming green gram seed distribution programme through the Farmer Contact Centre.

A two-day training programme on banana crop processing, value addition, and entrepreneurship opportunities was organized by ICAR JSS Krishi Vigyan Kendra in association with Sanjivini Taluk Level Federation and Kadali Van Dhan Vikas Kendra for women farmers of Kadali Van Dhan Vikas Kendra. The programme was held on 25 and 26 May 2026. Presiding over the programme, the Senior Scientist and Head of ICAR JSS Krishi Vigyan Kendra inaugurated the training and highlighted the importance of banana cultivation. He emphasized the unique qualities and value-addition potential of the famous Nanjangud Rasabale banana, a geographically recognized crop, and encouraged farm women to enhance their income by utilizing various schemes offered by the Central and State Governments. District Panchayat President K. Somaprasad attended the event as the chief guest. Addressing the participants, he noted that the training on banana processing and value addition would help women farmers and Self-Help Group (SHG) members strengthen their enterprises and improve their livelihoods. Mrs. Divya, Taluk Programme Manager of the Sanjivini Project at the Taluk Panchayat, Mysuru, also addressed the gathering and encouraged women to progress from entrepreneurship toward self-reliance and economic empowerment. Du ring the technical session, Dr. K. V. Deepak provided practical and technical training on processing bananas into value-added products such as banana cookies, banana chips, banana baby food, banana-based bakery products, and other innovative products. He also informed participants about financial assistance and subsidies available under the Prime Minister's Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) Scheme for the development of micro food-processing enterprises. The programme aimed to equip women farmers with skills in banana processing and value addition, thereby creating opportunities for entrepreneurship, income generation, and sustainable rural development.

The ambitious Khet Bachao (Save Farmland) Campaign, initiated by the Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, was implemented across Mysuru district to protect soil fertility and to promote sustainable agricultural practices. This special campaign was organized in collaboration with the line departments in the month of June 2026. The campaign was conducted in coordination with scientists line departments including Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry, Fisheries, and Panchayat Raj, as well as non-governmental organizations and progressive farmers. In recent years, the excessive use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides to enhance crop productivity and control pests and diseases had adversely affected soil fertility and soil health. This deterioration poses a serious threat to sustainable food production and agricultural productivity for future generations. The primary objective of the campaign was to create awareness among farmers about the importance of soil health, scientific soil testing, balanced nutrient management, the use of organic and natural fertilizers, and sustainable farming practices. Farmers were also educated on the preparation and importance of Jeevamrutha, Gokrupamrita, and Beejamrutha in improving soil fertility and promoting eco-friendly agriculture practices. As an important step towards securing the future of the agricultural sector, the campaign emphasized the need for every farmer to conduct soil testing and apply fertilizers based on Soil Health Card recommendations. Farmers were encouraged to conserve and protect agricultural land and pass it on to future generations in a safe, productive, and fertile condition. The campaign was implemented jointly by officials of the line department of the Mysuru district and six Subject Matter Specialists of the Krishi Vigyan Kendra, who were organized into two teams. Daily meetings, demonstrations, and awareness programmes were conducted in two villages across different taluks of the district to educate and motivate farmers. The campaign was actively coordinated by Dr. B. N. Gnanesh, Senior Scientist and Head, ICAR–JSS Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Suttur, along with Subject Matter Specialists Smt. H. V. Divya, Shri Shamaraj, Dr. U.M. Rakshith Raj, Dr. G. M. Vinay, Sri Y.P. Prasad, Dr. Deepak. During June 2026, the campaign covered 79 villages across seven taluks of Mysuru district and reached more than 10,000 farmers and farmwomen through awareness programmes, demonstrations, and interactive sessions.

Raju, Deputy Director of Agriculture, Mysuru, informed them that every farmer would be provided with an Aadhaar-linked Farmer ID (FID) for the distribution of fertilizers during the current cropping season. He explained that fertilizer allocation would be linked to land records and advised farmers to visit their nearest Farmer Contact Centre (Raitha Samparka Kendra) to obtain their FID. He also informed the participants that crop-wise fertilizer recommendations would be made available at the Farmer Contact Centres. Dr. B.N. Gnanesh, Senior Scientist and Head, ICAR–JSS KVK, Suttur, highlighted that the PM-KISAN Scheme provides annual financial assistance to eligible farmer families to support agricultural operations and improve farm productivity. He appealed to the farmers to utilize the assistance received under the scheme exclusively for agricultural activities. He also advised farmers to take up the cultivation of paddy, maize, pulses, and oilseeds during the current season. A Farmer–Scientist Interaction Programme on the development action plan for SCSP farmers was organized on 9 July 2026 at ICAR–JSS Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Suttur, in association with the ICAR–National Institute of Animal Nutrition and Physiology (NIANP), Bengaluru. Addressing the participants, Dr. Arata Bandhu Sahoo, Director, ICAR–NIANP, emphasized that scientific dairy management can significantly improve farmers' income. He explained that dairy animals should be provided with balanced feed and mineral mixtures to achieve timely conception and maintain good reproductive health. He informed the farmers that the institute has developed a new mineral mixture, Fertimin Plus, and stated that feeding 70g per animal per day to cows with reproductive disorders could help improve conception within 60–70 days. He encouraged farmers to adopt scientific dairy management with the goal of achieving one healthy calf per cow every year. A one-day training programme on "Nut-Based Mixed Cropping Systems" was organized on 20 July 2026 by ICAR–JSS Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Suttur under the SCSP Scheme, in collaboration with the ICAR–Central Institute for Horticultural Research (ICHR), Mysuru. Inaugurating the programme, Mr. Mahadevaswamy stated that arecanut is an important commercial crop providing substantial income to farmers. He emphasized that arecanut cultivation should be planned based on water availability and highlighted the importance of mulching, rainwater harvesting, and efficient water management to conserve soil moisture. He further explained that adopting intercropping and mixed cropping systems in arecanut plantations enhances soil fertility, biodiversity, sustainability, and farm income. Presiding over the programme, Dr. B.N. Gnanesh, Senior Scientist and Head, ICAR–JSS Krishi Vigyan Kendra, observed that although arecanut is one of the most profitable horticultural crops, continuous monocropping may lead to several production challenges. He advised farmers to adopt intercropping and mixed cropping systems to reduce economic risks and ensure a steady source of income. He also emphasized the importance of maintaining soil moisture through pruning and mulching, which help suppress weeds, regulate soil temperature, and improve soil fertility through the decomposition of organic matter. He encouraged farmers to adopt modern production technologies based on the scientific recommendations of Krishi Vigyan Kendra scientists. Dr. Bharat Kumar, Horticulturist and Head, Agricultural Research Centre, Arasikere, delivered a detailed lecture on scientific arecanut cultivation. He explained the importance of suitable soil and climatic conditions, improved varieties, quality nursery management, selection of mother palms, land preparation, planting techniques, irrigation management, integrated nutrient management, and integrated pest and disease management. He also highlighted the benefits of growing intercrops and mixed crops such as banana, papaya, green gram, black pepper, cardamom, cocoa, coffee, nutmeg, clove, and chickpea in arecanut plantations. These systems promote efficient land use, provide additional income, reduce production risks, and support sustainable farming. Various successful mixed-cropping models were presented to create awareness among the participants.

Workshop on Utilization of Solar Energyin Agriculture was organized on 29 July 2026 at ICAR–JSS Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Suttur, under the aegis of the Agriculture Skill Council of India, Bengaluru South, and the National Skill Foundation of India. The programme was inaugurated by Dr. M.J. Chandregowda, Principal Scientist, ICAR–Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute (ATARI), Bengaluru, who highlighted the various Central and State Government schemes available for the welfare of farmers. He urged farmers to take advantage of these schemes to enhance their income. He also advised them to improve crop productivity through proper planning, prepare cost estimates before cultivation, diversify cropping systems instead of depending on a single crop, and integrate enterprises such as dairy, poultry, sericulture, and fisheries for sustainable income generation. The Chief Guest, Shri M. Purushottam Gowda, informed the participants that training programmes on the use of solar energy in agriculture are being conducted across the State. He explained that farmers can install solar power systems for agricultural operations and generate additional income by supplying surplus electricity produced from solar plants established on barren lands. Presiding over the programme, Dr. B.N. Gnanesh, Senior Scientist and Head, ICAR–JSS Krishi Vigyan Kendra, stated that the workshop was organized to promote the adoption of solar energy and make farmers self-reliant in meeting their electricity requirements. He recommended the cultivation of green manure and leguminous crops such as dhaincha to improve soil fertility and encouraged farmers to adopt allied enterprises including dairy, fisheries, poultry, and sericulture as additional sources of income.

Progressive farmer Shri Gopal discussed the medicinal benefits of black rice varieties (Kalajeera and Chalkhow) and cultivation practices. A three-day sheep and goat farming training was held for livestock entrepreneurs from 18.08.2025 to 20.08.2025 in collaboration with the Centre for Animal Husbandry Excellence, Government of India, Hesaraghatta, Bangalore. Dr. Mohan Kumar, Assistant Director of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services in Nanjangud, advised that sheep and goat farming should begin with low-cost barns and small numbers before expanding. He emphasized the department's support for farmers. Dr. B.N. Ganesh, presiding over the programme, encouraged farmers to focus on market-driven sheep and goat farming and to attend ongoing training sessions for scientific guidance. The Honourable Union Minister of Agriculture, Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, visited the field of progressive farmer Sri Lakshmaiyya Sriramu in Varuna, Mysuru, who has been cultivating crops under the technical guidance of ICAR JSS Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Mysuru. The Honourable Member of Parliament from Mysuru, Shri Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar, also accompanied him. The event was organised by ICAR JSS KVK, Suttur, Mysuru, under the guidance of Dr. M. J. Chandregowda, Principal Scientist, ICAR–ATARI, Bengaluru. Mysuru District Commissioner, officials from agriculture and allied departments, and more than 50 farmers participated in the programme. The progressive farmer has been cultivating more than 15 horticultural crops, including ginger, papaya, banana, sapota, coconut, and mango, on four acres as intercrops. He practices organic farming techniques and adopts multiple/multilayer cropping systems, agroforestry, and integrated nutrient management technologies, including the use of biofertilizers under the guidance of ICAR JSS KVK. The Honourable Minister interacted with progressive farmer and appreciated the intercropping of ginger with coconut. He noticed the ginger crop and enquired about the recent incidence of leaf spot disease and its management practices. The farmer explained that timely interventions and guidance from KVK scientists, including the application of appropriate chemical sprays, had helped in reducing the disease and restoring crop health. The Honourable Minister also noticed the plantation of Nanjangud Rasabale, a banana variety with Geographical Indication (GI) status and recognised as the One District One Product (ODOP) crop of Mysuru district. Shri Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar highlighted its unique features, including lower sugar content, making it suitable for people with diabetes. The Honourable Minister discussed the challenges faced by farmers in cultivating Nanjangud Rasabale and enquired about departmental subsidies. Dr. Gnanesh BN, Senior Scientist and Head, along with other KVK scientists, briefed him about the severe impact of Panama wilt disease on banana crops and the subsidy support of Rs. 55,000 per hectare provided to farmers in Nanjangud Taluk. The Minister suggested that farmers seek technical guidance from ICAR scientists to effectively manage Panama wilt disease. Later, the Honourable Minister visited the papaya plot, where he appreciated the farmer for achieving good yields. He enquired about the interventions of KVK scientists, and the support extended to farmers in improving crop production. The discussion emphasised the collaborative efforts undertaken to optimise papaya cultivation. The Honourable Minister recommended the adoption of diversified, multilayered cropping systems and encouraged optimal use of available land resources. Addressing the farmers, he remarked that such approaches serve as a model for sustainable intensification, enhancing income, improving resilience, and preserving local crop heritage. World Coconut Day was observed at ICAR JSS Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Suttur, themed "Let's spread the power of coconut to the world," in partnership with Agricultural Technologists Mysore Unit, ICAR-National Agricultural Pest Resource Bureau, Bangalore, and Shobhitha Nanjegowda Farm, Kennalu on September 2, 2025. A program focusing on advanced farming techniques for coconut cultivation and a farmer-scientist engagement initiative was conducted. The chief guests were retired Assistant Director of Agriculture, Dr. K.R. Ravindra, and Dr. V. Gundappa, Senior Scientists at NBAIR, Bangalore. The program was presided by Dr. B.N. Gnanesh, Senior Scientist and Head, ICAR JSSKVK, Mysuru, he mentioned that in recent times, the number of farmers cultivating coconut crops has increased, but the problem of unavailability of quality seedlings is arising. In this regard, farmers were provided information about selection and growth of good seedlings and how we can comprehensively manage the plantation by utilizing the agricultural waste available in the coconut plantation. A two-day Soppu Mela (Green leafy vegetables Mela) focused on enhancing the awareness of green leafy vegetables as healthy food while rekindling the rich diversity of traditional leafy vegetables took place at Nanjarajabahaddur choultry, Mysuru on September 6-7, 2025, in partnership with Sahaja Seeds, Mysuru and Hulikaadu Farmers Producer Company. Over 100 types of leafy green vegetables were presented. The program featured a cooking contest focused on leafy greens. 36 participants presented variety of dishes made from greens. In the drawing contest 35 children participated and portrayed the world of greens through colours. Over 2000 people from rural and urban areas participated in the mela. The programme was inaugurated by Shri. M. Shivakumar, Azim Premji Foundation, Sri. Krishna Prasad, Sahaja seeds, Dr. B.N. The 11th meeting of the Pulse Seed Hub Project Advisory Committee (PAC) was held at ICAR JSS Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Suttur, Nanjangud Taluk, Mysuru, on 8th September 2025. A training and demonstration session on seed treatment was organised for cowpea variety KBC 9 and green gram variety KKM3 on 10th September 2025 at Karanakuppe village, Hunsur taluk. The event was conducted in partnership with ITC and the Outreach Institute, as well as the Department of Agriculture and Department of Horticulture. Mrs. H.V. Divya emphasised the significance of seed treatment, pre-planting spraying of nursery beds, and the inclusion of potash, zinc, and boron alongside nitrogen and phosphorus during early growth stages to maximise rice yields. She explained that organic fertilisers help stabilise nitrogen and phosphorus, thereby reducing disease incidence. The programme was attended by Panchayat President Papanna, Agriculture Department Officer Jayakumar, Horticulture Officer Ravi, Outreach Programme Officer Vishwajith, KVK Seedhub Project Technical Officer Akshay, and ATMA Officer Shashi Kumar. On 10th September 2025, ICAR JSS KVK, Suttur Food Processing Unit, conducted a demonstration on preparing various value-added food products such as ragi cookies, ragi mixture, ragi happal, and other assorted items. The event was organised in association with M/s Chandramouleshwar Women Producers Association from Madapura, H. D. Kote Taluk, under the TSP programme. Dr. Deepak, Subject Matter Specialist (Home Science), provided technical guidance to women farmers and self-help group members on processing and adding value to different agricultural and horticultural crops. He discussed the development of contemporary food products, including cookies, bread, buns, pasta, noodles, and bakery items, along with traditional foods like ragi happal, cereal malt, ragi lumps, ragi mixture, and sendige. Dr. Deepak also detailed various programmes offered by central and state governments and discussed opportunities for establishing small food businesses through the Central Government's Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises Scheme (PMFME). The training saw participation from over 38 farmwomen.

A training programme themed "Nutritious and Balanced Food and Supplementary Food for Children" was organised on 12th September 2025 at Kupparavalli Anganwadi Centre as part of the National Nutrition Mission-2025. The event was held in partnership with ITC Pratham Sansthan, Nanjangud. Dr. Deepak, Subject Matter Specialist (Home Science), explained that the Rashtriya Poshan Mission is celebrated annually in India from 1st to 30th September, as a part of the Government of India's Poshan Abhiyan initiative. The campaign's goal is to eradicate malnutrition by promoting the message "Eat Right for a Better Life." The Krishi Vigyan Kendra supports this initiative through multiple programmes and technical assistance to schools and Anganwadi centres in various villages, encouraging the establishment of nutritious home gardens and adherence to healthy dietary practices. More than 30 women and children participated in the programme.

A five-day training programme on natural farming was organised from 16th to 20th September 2025 for agricultural assistants, known as Krishi Sakhis, in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture, Mysore, under the National Mission on Natural Farming Scheme of the Government of India. Vinay, Subject Matter Specialist (Horticulture), shared foundational knowledge on natural farming, its relevance in present-day agriculture, the creation of farming implements, suitable crops, intercropping, and horticultural plants. Dr. Gnanesh, Senior Scientist and Head, discussed the importance of soil and its management, while Mr. Shamaraj, SMS (Agronomy), spoke on cropping systems, integrated farming systems, and the procedures from sowing to harvesting in natural farming. On October 11, 2025, in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture, a traning session focused on pulses farming techniques and value addition, along with a live telecast of the PM Dhan-Dhana Krishi Yojana and Pulses Self Reliance Mission program, was conducted at the ICAR JSS Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Suttur. Mr. Ravi, the Assistant Director of Agriculture from Nanjangud, inaugurated the event and urged farmers to prioritize the cultivation of pulses. Dr. B.N. Gnanesh, Senior Scientist and Head, ICAR JSS Krishi Vigyan Kendra, presided over the program and stated that the Union Government's objective is to enhance domestic production and attain self-reliance in pulses through the Pulses Self-Reliance Mission. He emphasized that the goal of the initiative is to achieve self-sufficiency in pulses, decrease reliance on imports, boost farmers' income, and conserve valuable foreign exchange.

In collaboration with the Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA) Mysuru, the Department of Agriculture conducted a five-day training program on organic farming at the ICAR JSS Krishi Vigyan Kendra in Suttur. The event was inaugurated by B. N. Gnanesh, Senior Scientist and Head of ICAR JSS KVK, Suttur, who encouraged farmers and women to embrace organic farming due to the increasing demand for organic products. Mr. Satish, Deputy Project Director of ATMA , Mysuru present in the programme. Throughout the program, participants explored various aspects of organic farming, including fundamental principles, essential practices, soil and water management, and their implications for human health. The curriculum also covered topics such as seed preservation, animal husbandry, organic pest management, and the marketing of organic products. In collaboration with Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA) Mysuru, the Department of Agriculture and the University of Agricultural Sciences, Mandya organized a five-day skill training program focused on Agricultural Technician and Agricultural Machinery. The program was inaugurated by Dr. Sridevi, Professor, University Agricultural Sciences, Mandya, emphasized the importance of farmers learning to repair their own agricultural machinery. This initiative aims to equip farmers with the necessary skills for machinery repair. Dr. B. N. Gnanesh, Senior Scientist and Head of ICAR JSS KVK, Suttur, presided over the function highlighted the need for farmers to visit local taluk centres for repairs, which can be time-consuming and costly. This training is designed to enable farmers to repair essential machinery on-site, thereby saving both time and expenses. Mr. Raghuveer, the Agricultural Officer of Nanjangudu taluk was the chief guest at the event, encouraged participants to share their newly acquired skills with fellow farmers in their communities. He also provided information on available subsidies for agricultural machinery through the Department of Agriculture. Throughout the training, participants learned to repair various types of pesticide sprayers used in agriculture and horticulture, as well as the significance of machinery in IoT-based agriculture. Instruction included tractor operation, maintenance of multipurpose weeders, and demonstrations on battery sprayer repair and brush cutter upkeep. Additionally, the establishment of custom hiring centers was covered. The farmers also had the opportunity to visit the AICRP on Farm Implements and Machinery Agro Processing Unit, Jaggery Park, and the Zonal Agriculture Research Station at VC Farm, Mandya. A five-day workshop focused on Integrated Skill Livestock Management was held for animal husbandry and fisheries farmers at ICAR JSS Krishi Vigyan Kendra in Suttur in collaboration with ATMA, Department of Agriculture, Mysuru district. The event featured Dr. Nagaraju, Deputy Director of the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services in Mysore, as the chief guest. Dr. B.N. Gnanesh, Senior Scientist and Head, emphasized the growing importance of livestock management as an additional income source for farmers, particularly due to the rising demand for wool and worm from sheep and goats. The program covered critical topics such as malnutrition and diseases affecting cattle, vaccination strategies against foot and mouth disease, skin ailments, and intestinal leprosy, highlighting the need for farmers to prioritize cattle health. Additionally, lectures on various fish breeds and fisheries management were provided. A total of 42 farmwomen from different taluks in Mysuru district participated. Dr. U.M. The Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi transferred ₹18,000 crore as the 21st instalment to Indian farmers under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana during and Technical Agricultural Summit 2025 held at the Coimbatore. This programme have been live telecasted at ICAR JSS Krishi Vigan Kendra, Suttur. Dr. B.N. Gnanesh, Senior Scientist and Head of ICAR JSS KVK, highlighted the PM Kisan scheme, that provides essential income support ₹6,000 per year for farmers. This programme originally launched by the Telangana Government as the Raitha Bandhu Yojana before being expanded nationwide on February 1, 2019, by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare. To access the Kisan Samman fund, farmers must obtain a Farmers' Identity Card from the Agriculture Department and link their Aadhaar and bank accounts. On this occasion, farmers were encouraged to utilize these funds for agricultural purposes rather than other expenditures. Additionally, progressive farmers Mr. Mahadevu from Kikkeri village and Mr. Manjunatha from Saraguru village, recognized for their contributions to mushroom and silk cultivation and their decade-long work in agricultural machinery repair, were honoured during the event. The event saw participation from ICAR JSS KVK staff and around 200 farmers and farmer women.

On 15 January 2025 His Holiness Jagadguru Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji flag-off the event on export of GI-tagged Nanjangud Rasabale and Mysore beetle leaves at ICAR JSS KVK, Suttur. The programme was organized in collaboration with APEDA, Bengaluru and Department of Horticulture, Mysuru and ICAR JSS Krishi Vigyan Kendra. His Holiness expressed happiness about exporting the Nanjangud Rasabale and Mysore beetle leaves to the Maldives and hoped it would reach other countries soon. Noting global demand for organic products, His Holiness stressed the farmers to pursue organic farming in a large scale. Dr. B.N. Gnanesh, Senior Scientist and Head, along with Sri Manjunath Angadi, Joint Director of the Department of Horticulture, Mysuru, staff members, and farmers, attended the rally. The Agriculture and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority in Bengaluru facilitated a nationwide live telecast of the Green Flag event.
